Introduction [INTRO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, hello, hello! Thanks for choosing this walkthrough to be your wondrous guide into the world of The Godfather. Now this guide follows a simple procedure. It does not list missions then safes then film reels then businesses etc. It lists them according to the order when you should be able to take them on (I won't have you take on the Cuneo compound right after the second mission). Now, onto the guide (well first, the legal crap). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Weapons [WEAPO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REVOLVER .38 Snub Nose The .38 snub nose is a standard police-issue sidearm. It is the quietest firearm, but is also the weakest. .38 Special (LVL.2) The .38 special is and upgraded revolver with a slightly faster firing rate than the base revolver. Your ammo has increased to 60 bullets. Saturday Night Special (LVL.3) The Saturday night special is a modified revolver that has the fastest firing rate. Your ammo carry limit has increased to 80 bullets. PISTOL Pistol (Level 1) The semiautomatic sidearm uses a vertical clip with an eight round capacity. The pistol has a fast firing speed with an even faster reload. Extended Clip Pistol (Level 2) The modified/extended clip pistol has an upgraded clip that holds 10 rounds and fires faster than its predecessor. The modified pistol has an ammo carry limit of 80 rounds. Assassin's Pistol (Level 3) The assassin's pistol is the most advanced pistol available, with a blistering firing rate. Its extended clip holds 14 rounds, making for very few reloads. The ammo carry limit is increased to 140 bullets. MAGNUM Magnum (Level 1) The magnum is a hand cannon with a swing and cylinder. The magnum is the loudest and most powerful sidearm, and it rivals the shotgun in damage dealt. Extended Barrel Magnum (Level 2) The modified/extended barrel magnum is upgraded to use longer bullets that deal more damage and exit the cylinder faster than the case magnum. Python (Level 3) The python is the most lethal one-handed firearm available. It's upgraded from the modified magnum, and its cylinder holds eight rounds. The hollow-tip bullets it uses deal an unparalleled amount of damage. Additionally, the ammo carry limit is increased to 80 bullets. TOMMY GUN Tommy Gun (Level 1) The tommy gun is a compact machine gun that is small and light enough for one man to handle. It cuts enemies down in record time, but it has a slow reload. Modified Tommy Gun (Level 2) The modified tommy gun is augmented to hold 50 bullets, and it has a faster firing rate than the standard tommy gun. The reload is still slow though. Dillinger (Level 3) The Dillinger is the most advanced tommy gun available. It has an astounding 75-bullet clip, making for fewer reloads and a blistering firing rate. SHOTGUN Long Barrel Shotgun (Level 1) The long barrel shotgun is a pump-action rifle that fires effectively over short ranges. Because the shotgun has a pump reload after every two shots, you better make every shot count. Double Barrel Shotgun (Level 2) The double barrel shotgun has a slightly shortened barrel that makes for more damage with each shell. More importantly, your ammo count is increased to 24 bullets. Street Sweeper (Level 3) The street sweeper is arguably the most powerful firearm available. The clip is modified to hold 10 shells that are fired like an automatic weapon. The ammo carry limit is increased to 100 shells. BASEBALL BAT The baseball bat (or other melee weapon) is a strong weapon that is great for intimidation, and in the right hand, it can be lethal. MOLOTOV Total carried: four (without skill upgrade). The Molotov is a glass bottle filled with fuel and topped off with an oily rag. Light it and watch your targets burn. You can carry only a limited number, so use the Molotovs wisely. DYNAMITE Total carried: one (without skill upgrade). Dynamite does tremendous damage to a small area, making it great for destroying vehicles, safes, and bank vaults. It can be thrown or planted, but it has a short fuse, so watch your back. BOMB Total carried: one (without skill upgrade). A bomb deals tremendous damage to a large area. If thrown or planted inside a building, it will gut it. Because the bomb has a long fuse, timing is everything. GARROTE WIRE The garrote is an instrument of execution by strangulation. To use it you must seize your enemy form behind, so be patient. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Walkthrough [WALKT] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And now, here comes, the moment you've all been waiting for, the Walkthrough! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.01 Mission 0 [MIS00] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Mission 0 isn't really a mission, it's a prelude. So when asked when starting a new game "Do you want to play the prelude?" click yes. Otherwise click no and skip to Ceremony 1. In the movie you see Johnny Trapani (your father) paying his dues to Don Corleone and Peter Clemenza. You see him meet his wife, Sarafina (your mother) outside of his bakery. Then the bakery explodes in a mass of flames! What are we to do? As Johnny rushes in he sees a couple of thugs. Just hold the left mouse button and press Q and E until they're kneeling. Now knee them in the face (don't worry; neither the flames nor the thugs can hurt you)! Once you're done with all of them a cut scene appears. You see your father emerge from the flames just as Don Barzini's men pop him full of lead. Then you see yourself as a small boy and Don Corleone telling you to save your anger until the time is right. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.02 Ceremony 1 [CER01] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Ceremonies are basically cut scenes but I will explain them just in case you don't understand. It is The Godfather's daughter's wedding day today. As Luca Brasi stands outside practicing his speech you see Sarafina walk into the Godfather's office. She talks to him and asks him to find you. Tom Hagen (the Corleone's consigliere) stares out the window while Luca finishes his speech and decides to leave. "One more thing my friend," says the Don. "I need you to find someone for me." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.03 Mission 1 [MIS01] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: You should have made your character to your liking by now. You are getting beat up just as Luca starts strolling in. You got involved in this gang and now you want some cash. This fatso doesn't like that idea. Then Luca takes a lead pipe and smashes his brains in. He finally found you. Now this mission is really easy. Just do what the computer tells you to do. Oh...wait! Before you beat up the last guy, throw him into the crate at the right side of the alley. Voila! $1000. That's a lot of cash in the beginning of the game. Talk to Luca and he'll give you a map and tell you about the objectives menu. Your first objective is to go to the safehouse. Not so fast! We've got some exploring to do. Now as soon as you get out of the alley turn left. Keep heading down Bowery St. then make a left into the alley. Ignore the Tattaglia gangster here and at the end of the alley. When you emerge you should see a barber shop across the street. Thats Demantagnas barber shop owned by the Tattaglias. Heres where the fun begins. Grab hold of the Tattaglia mobster in front of the shop. Walk him over to the window and press W to throw him in. Run into the shop and knock him out. Take his gun (if he doesnt have a gun thats ok; use melee for the next part). Draw the pistol, open the door in the back of the store, and fire away at the second Tattaglia gangster. Reload it, hide it, and then go back into the front of the store again. Talk to the barber. He refuses to pay. We gotta teach him a lesson (now the bar in the upper right hand corner shows when hes going to crack and when hes going to fight back; the objective here is, not to take the money when the blue bar goes just past the green bar, but to make it go just short of the red bar [if you settle with the lowest cash payment all the time you can lose up to a $100,000!]). I would settle with a payout of about $700-750. But, once you reach 700 stop and talk to him again. You dont wanna go too far or else or youre going to blow it. Target his register, punch it out, and take the money inside. Still doesnt crack? Hold im and take out a few punches until the payout is about $700 (more or less $25). Stop and talk to him. He should give you your payout and now hell pay you every week! Now emerge from the store with a happy smile on your face, right? Wrong! We still got one more thing to do. Get out of the barbershop and go left. Turn left into the alley. Go down until you see a man with a puppet sign on top of him. This guys a black market merchant. He sells either guns or bombs. Talk to him and buy one (1) dynamite stick. Now head back into the store. Go into the back room and stand by the safe. When the Plant Dynamite - P icon appears press P and run into the front of the store (dont run out of the store because it might get glitched). When you hear the explosion run back into the back room and take the dynamite, the money, and any gun that emerges. Now head to the safehouse. Right in front of it should be a rather large gunfight. Avoid it. Now as soon as you walk in go to the start menu. When your respect points go up a level you get a skill point. Skill points can be traded in for skills at any time in the game. I suggest keeping everything leveled because you don't want your character to be one-sided. Click Skills and Upgrades then up your fighting by one and your shooting by one. Then go upstairs and into your room. Take the RX bottle on the table if you need it (full health) and also take the baseball bat by the trunk. Then finally save. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.04 Mission 2 [MIS02] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now before you start the mission, in the main menu of the game go to Load Game. The once your character appears go to Edit. Here you can edit your character if you want to. I would suggest wearing the clothes that I tell you to wear but thats completely up to you. But remember; the clothes I tell you to wear = more respect bonus. Il Diavolo Rosso Dress Shirt Open Collar $0 0 respect 2/3 pattern 8/12 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Pants Casual Pants $0 0 respect 2/3 pattern 9/12 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Shoes Dress Shoes $0 0 respect ----------- 6/6 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Go and answer the phone by pressing space. You hear someone tell you to meet Luca outside. Go do just that. Yay, cut scene! Luca starts telling you how he likes it in this town now and warns you never to disrespect the Godfather. Then he tells you that old Emilio is paying the Tattaglias his money. When you start out talk to Luca one more time. Then go into the butcher shop across the street. You see a menu come up of what Ive taught you before. Then go talk to old Emilio. He wont budge. So, lets destroy his counter, scale, and his cash register (take the money inside). He probably will already pay you but lets turn up the heat a little more. Grab him and punch him until you get a payout of about $1,100. Now talk to him again. Hell be more than happy to pay you the money. The back door has been unlocked. Go through the back door and up the stairs. Youve discovered a racket. Dont go talk to the racket boss just yet. Beat up both Tattaglia thugs then one of the fat men. Now you should see a bar that says Frankie The Flush in the top right hand corner of your screen. Grab him then bring him to a wall and smack him. Ohhhh. That works real well. Do it again, and again, and again, until you get a payout of about $750. Now talk to him and buy him out. Now go and plant the dynamite on the safe in the other room. Run and hide either downstairs or behind a poker table. When you here the boom go and collect the $1,500 and the dynamite stick. Uh-oh. Police in the house. Bribe him for just $100! Then go and give Luca the money you earned. He tells you to go meet his friend, Paulie Gatto. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.05 Mission 3 [MIS03] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now go to the skills menu and upgrade your health and your speed by one notch. Then go talk to the mobster wearing the black jacket. Hell tell you to go take over business. We cant do that just yet. Go to your safehouse and save. Then go to the edit menu and put on these clothes (it might seem like a lot of money now, but well get 5x as much back; dont worry) The Beige Brawler Vest Closed w/ $3,600 1125 respect 3/4 pattern 12/12 color Rolled Up ---------------------------------------------------------- Dress Shirt Purchased ------ ------------ 3/3 pattern 9/12 color w/ Vest ---------------------------------------------------------- Pants Casual Pants $720 225 respect 3/3 pattern 11/12 color w/ Belt ---------------------------------------------------------- Shoes Oxfords $420 135 respect ----------- 5/6 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Hat Snap Brim $480 150 respect 1/2 pattern 12/18 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Glasses Wire Frames $300 95 respect ----------- 6/8 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Total $5,520 1,730 respect Now that we have that straightened out lets go see Paulie. Either walk or take the car that is parked behind the building (back door) to the Falconite social club. When you get there walk in front of it to trigger a cut scene. In the scene you meet Paulie and Monk. They tell you that the Undertakers daughter got beat up pretty bad by a couple of punks. Follow them and stick close. Now before going straight in and fighting the thugs theres a certain money bag that you should get. To the left of the graveyard should be a church. To the right of the church doors should be a see-through fence. If you look really closely you can see a bag of money leaning up against the headstone. But, first... Go with Monk and Paulie and whack the blue guy. Then run into the graveyard, get the money ($2,000), then start throwing the red guy around. When hes just below dying a cut scene triggers. You and Monk throw Red into a grave and Monk starts throwing dirt on him. Paulie tells him he should treat the ladies a little nicer and with a little respect. Now its too late. Then he K.O.s him with the shovel. Congrats! You passed mission three. Go to the skills menu and upgrade your street smarts one notch. Then talk to Monk. He tells you that Luca is waiting for you over at the Bowery. Dont go to him yet. We have a crazy load of stuff to do. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.06 Free Roam 1 [FRR01] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now free roaming is basically about getting your respect and money up. Taking over business/rackets, buying safehouses, and collecting film reels. You can choose to skip free roams but I highly suggest you do them. The min. net value is $. The max. is $$$$$. NOTE: An easy way to add money and increase the pain the shopkeeper is receiving and giving try strangling him/her (X). BUSINESSES AND RACKETS Businesses to Extort: Very Easy Grand News Location: Grand Street and Mulberry Street Controlling Family: Stracci Weakness of Shopkeeper: Using Melee Attacks Min Payout: $150 Max Payout: $600 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $190 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $750 Net Value: $ Description: Go1 to Grand News. Defeat the lone thug in the front and cough the money out of the shopkeeper by using melee attacks. Id stop at $700 just to be safe. Global Trading Company Location: Prince Street and Center Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of Shopkeeper: Using Melee Attacks Min Payout: $150 Max Payout: $600 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $190 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $750 Net Value: $ Description: Go to Global Trading Co. Once you get there, there should be an alley on the north side of the building. Circle around and you should see two more thugs there. Dont go through the back door. Go all the way down the alley and crouch behind the dumpster. Now the thugs dont see you. Get out some kind of weapon and shoot one guy in the head. When the second one starts running shoot him too. Now the three in front should start running towards you. If they dont go back to the front of the store and blow their brains out. Now that that is taken care of head on into the store. Talk to the owner. He wont pay. Here comes the fun part. Destroy his two cabinets and his register then melee and strangle him until he croaks I went to about $550 but you can go more if youre brave enough. But theres still the matter of the racket upstairs. Now you should have gotten some kind of heavy weapon from the thugs outside. Take it out and go through the back door. Take out the thug and wait. The double doors open and two more thugs run in. Take them out then go on in. Take out the thug coming down the stairs, then go up yourself. When the door opens, kill the thug that comes out and the one that comes out of the room on the left. Collect all the ammo and money you may have missed then go back into the room upstairs (it has a bunch of windows). Blow up the safe then go through the other door upstairs. Take a left then go into the elevator. When it arrives you should be on the roof of the building. There are two thugs here and a racket boss, so be careful when youre firing not to kill him. Destroy the thugs and then talk to the boss. If he dont pay try turning up the heat a little. Grab hold of him then throw him. Slam him into a couple of walls until the payout goes to about $630. Then lay off or else hell fight back. Oh yeah. And upgrade your fighting again one notch. Business to Extort: Easy Sicilian Imports Incorporated Location: Fourth Avenue and East Houston Street Controlling Family: Stracci Weakness of Shopkeeper: Destroying Property Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $ Description: Go to Sicilian Imports Inc. Be careful not to step into the mission circle. Now go to a post thats holding up the railroad tracks and take cover. Pull out a gun and shoot one thug in the head. The other should start running so hit him as well. Then, from some where unimaginable comes a third thug. Kill him and go on in. Extort the owner by destroying his property then punching him a few times. I didnt go all the way and stopped at $1,100 but you can keep going. After that go through the back door. Then up the stairs, through the double doors, up another set of stairs, and then finally into the small room on the left. Blow up the safe and take the money. Trapanis Bakery Location: Canal Street and Mulberry Street Controlling Family: Stracci Weakness of Shopkeeper: Throws, Slams, and Leans Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $ Description: Get to Trapanis Bakery. Talk to mama then break some of her stuff until she gets pissed and pays you $900 (trust me: shes a tough cookie). Theres no racket in the back but there is a safe. Blow it up and get the money stashed inside. Now upgrade your shooting one notch and get out. NOTE: Right about now you should be getting your first weekly cut. Arezzo Seafood Location: Allen Street and Eldridge Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of Shopkeeper: Grabs and Strangles Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $ Description: Get to Arezzo Seafood. I held the owner and strangled him using X and I went all the way. Now theres a racket and a safe upstairs so be careful. Kill the two thugs and take the Molotov in the back. Then intimidate the racket boss by pointing guns at him until he pays $900. Bella Siciliana Location: Broadway and East Houston Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening Innocents Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $$ Description: By now, your heat with the Tattaglias could be up to medium. That means theyll start shooting at you when you pass by. Go bribe the FBI Agent if you need to. Now get to Bella Sicilianas. Theres two thugs in front of the restaurant, two in the crevice to the left of it, and two in the crevice to the right of it. There are no places to hide so open fire. Once the six are taken care of go inside. Beat up some bystanders, destroy the register, and then throw her around a bit. Id settle with $1,200. Then go through the back door with a loaded firearm. Kill all the thugs and then try to intimidate the boss with strangles and firearms. Hes hard to crack and I settled with the lowest payout: $250. After that, go downstairs and crack the safe. Take the dynamite and emerge from the shop unscathed. Boolies Bakery Location: Hester Street and Bowery Controlling Family: Cuneo Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Throws, Slams, and Leans Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $$ Description: Go to Boolies Bakery. There are six thugs altogether. Two in front, two across the street, and two in the alley left of the bakery. Id start with the alley. Go all the way down and hide behind the wall. Take out a weapon and shoot the fat thug first. Then when the second thug starts running shoot him too. Right about now youve created a ruckus so all the Cuneo mob men are running towards the alley. Reload and pop a couple in the head if you can. Then come out of hiding and kill everyone else point blank. Then go in. When you go in destroy all the counters and the register then punch the owner a couple of times. I quit at $1,100. Now lets go downstairs shall we? Kill the lone thug then convince the racket boss to pay you no less than $1,000. Then blow up the safe. Take the money and the dynamite and walk out a free man. Oh yeah. I almost forgot...right now you should have respect level 9 so upgrade your speed and health one notch each too. Harrys Bar Location: Grand Street and Allen Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening with Firearms Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $$ Description: If your heat with the Tattaglias is just too much go and bribe the FBI Agent of Little Italy . Either way, go to Harrys Bar. There are four thugs in front of the bar. Kill them then go inside. The other door is locked so speak to Harry. Convince him to pay (I went to $1,020 but you can go farther). Then go through the back door. Kill everyone in every room then go downstairs kill the thugs in here. Then beat up the boss until he coughs up no less than $1000. Go back upstairs and inside the office on the left. There should be a safe here to bomb. After thats done, walk out. Primola Location: Allen Street and Eldridge Street Controlling Family: Cuneo Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Throws, Slams, and Leans Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $$ Description: Go to Primola. There are four thugs in front of Primolas and one inside. Hide behind a trash can or something and shoot them all in the head. After theyre dead head on inside. Talk to the owner but stop at around $950 or else hell die. Now take out a good weapon and go through the back door. Kill the two thugs there and convince the racket boss to pay you no less than $1,000. By now you should have leveled up. Upgrade your street smarts then crack the safe. Take the money and the dynamite and walk out a little bit richer. Saint Martin Hotel Location: Broome Street and Broadway Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening Innocents Min Payout: $300 Max Payout: $1,200 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $375 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $1,500 Net Value: $$ Description: Go to the Saint Martin Hotel. There are six thugs guarding the hotel (tough place!). Two in the front two across the street and two in the crevice to the right of the hotel. Hide behind a wall and take them all out then head on in. Throw the maid around a couple of times then strangle the lady until she pays about $1,300. Now lets go check out the racket. There is a stairwell by the elevators. Go up one floor with either a shotty or a tommy gun. Kill the guard then go up another floor. Heres where the fun begins. Kill the thug hiding behind the couch. Then hide there yourself as you take out the remaining thugs. When thats done, approach the racket boss for a little negotiation. Talk to him (or punch him, whatever makes you feel better) until he coughs up no less than $2,500. Then blow the safe in the room with the long window. Take the cash, the stick of dynamite, and walk out. Businesses to Extort: Medium The Continental Location: Going South on Broadway Before Worth Street Controlling Family: Cuneo Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Firearms Min Payout: $450 Max Payout: $1,800 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $565 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $2,250 Net Value: $ Description: Go to The Continental. Four thugs surround the place. Three in the front and one across the street. Kill the loner first then the three remaining thugs. Then head on in. Go upstairs first. There are three thugs up there kill them all and head back down. Talk to the host and head into the main room. There's a lone thug in here so be careful. Kill him and talk to the manager. I'd settle with about $700 payout but you can even farther. He's just hard to crack. Now there should be a back door on the main floor somewhere. Find and go through to see a really scared worker and a safe. Crack it, take the cash and the TNT then walk out. Va Va Voom Room Location: Duanne Street and West Street Controlling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Firearms Min Payout: $450 Max Payout: $1,800 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $565 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $2,250 Net Value: $ Description: Go to Va Va Voom Room. There are three thugs guarding it. Two in the front and one off to the left. Now carefully hide in the crevice to the right of Va Va Voom Room and execute one thug. While the other two start running towards you, move your reticule a little up and shoot again, and again for the final guy. Now be careful. There might be another bad guy coming down the stairs to the left. Now go in. Now as soon as you get inside shoot and kill the thug to your left. Once he's taken care of talk to the host and go into the main part of the building: the stage and the bar. Now the owner doesn't take kindly to unwelcome visitors. So take her by the throat and slam her head against the bar until she cracks. Go until you get a payout of about $1,500. Now go through the door to the right of the bar. Turn left and keep going until you see a safe to your left. Blow it up and take the money and the dynamite. Then walk out. Sammy's Location: Doyes Street and Bowery Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Firearms Min Payout: $450 Max Payout: $1,800 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $565 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $2,250 Net Value: $$ Description: Go to Sammy's. Three thugs guard the place: two up front and one across. Kill the one across the street first so you can get a better reaction time until the other two attack. When they're taken care of, head on in. Kill the two guys that rush at you at the entrance then go upstairs to take over the racket. There are two thugs here; shoot them and move on. Now with the racket boss you can go all the way; $1,000. After that go downstairs. Speak to the owner and stop at about $1,500. Then blow the safe in the room to the right of the entrance. Take the dough and dynamite and go home. NOTE: After you've taken over this business you should at least be at level 11 respect (if you've been following this guide). Upgrade your fighting. Smoke Signals Location: Canal and Bowery Street Controlling Family: Cuneo Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Melee Attacks Min Payout: $450 Max Payout: $1,800 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $565 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $2,250 Net Value: $$ Description: This place is pretty much straightforward. Go here, take out all of the Cuneo thugs and extort the shopkeeper for around $2,000. Then walk out...just kidding! There is a racket dealing cigars in this joint and a safe. Blow the safe and extort (throw, slam, and lean) the racket boss for about $1,700-$1,800. Whoo! $4000 richer! Hotel Alioto Location: Barclay Street and Church Street Controlling Family: Stracci Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening Innocents Min Payout: $450 Max Payout: $1,800 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $565 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $2,250 Net Value: $$ Description: Go to Hotel Alioto. Six thugs are surrounding it. Two in the front, two in the crevice to the right, and two in the crevice across the street. Now the basic plan of attack is to hide behind a wall and try to get headshots each time. If you can't do that just rush in. Now extorting the owner isn't that hard. You just have to slam his head into the counter a couple of times that's all. I stopped at around $1,000. Now lets head on upstairs. There might be a guard prowling the stairs so be careful. Stop on the third floor and kill the thug trying to hide behind the couch. Take his place and take out each thug one by one until it's safe enough to go in. Talk to the racket boss and then blow the safe to get some more cash. Before walking out you at least be at level 11. Take the time to upgrade your shooting. It'll help you in the long run. RACKET TRUCKS When you're en route to a mission, about to extort a business, or on the street with out a purpose, and you spot a racket truck, attempt to halo it (stopping it at a junction and shooting the windshield), dispatch the crew inside, interrogate the driver, and then locate your nearest safehouse to flee from the cops. This can be dangerous, so be sure you've just saved, and you're not in the middle (or at the end) of a mission. Try hijacking four to five trucks to get the hang of this. BANKS There are two banks in Little Italy, and you should aim to rob the one nearest your initial safehouse. The Bowery Bank is straightforward; park a truck facing facing your safehouse, drop the dynamite, then flee to your truck and race to the safehouse at breakneck speeds. Savings and Loans bank offers double the money, but it's extremely far from your safehouse. With this in mind try taking over the Stracci-owned Alioto Hotel to the south, then purchase that safehouse (for $40,000). The expenditure may not seem worth it, but the safehouse is useful for more than just a bank hideout location. NOTE: Blowing up a bank safe nets you cash, but unlike destroying a safe, your dynamite isn't replenished afterwards. Try visiting a black market merchant after every heist to keep your dynamite stock up to par. SAFES Whenever you extort a business and a racket, be sure you check for a safe, then blow it up. You receive another stick of dynamite, and a bag of swag that could contain up to $1,000. Your goal is to collect all the items each business has to offer; the safe is the most important, but collect stray money, items, weapons, and ammunition too. NOTE: Don't forget to crack the safes inside the clinics too. CONTRACT HITS Don't worry about looking for gangsters that have especially annoyed the Corleone Family; you haven't met Salvatore Tessio yet. BRIBING THE POLICE If you need to lose so heat. be sure you visit the cop shop; there's only one in Little Italy. Head into the parking area to the left, and talk to the police chief. Have some money handy. Also bribe beat cops if your heat level escalates past two. WAREHOUSES AND TRANSPORT HUBS There are actually five warehouses and hubs in Little Italy (one of which is derelict), but it isn't wise to take them over until you've spent some more skill points. RIVAL FAMILY COMPOUNDS Little Italy is unique as there are no other Family compounds except the Corleone's (the Family you're allied to). By all means head to the Corleone Compound; if you can get inside either building, check the basement for a stash of pistol ammunition. WEAPON PURCHASES AND UPGRADES There are about 12 black market merchants in the greater Little Italy area (including the industrial area to the west). Head there for ammunition, health (although the Doctor's office is better), and more importantly, an upgrade to your revolver. Note you don't have to have bought the "level 2" to buy the "level 3"; but you'll receive a large (7,500 respect) bonus for doing so. Check your expenses, then opt for the Level 2, then the Level 3 (Saturday night special) revolver if you can afford it. SAFEHOUSES It isn't necessary to purchase a safehouse this early into your expedition, as the Grand Apartments provides access to the Bowery Bank and a cluster of businesses to extort. There are four safehouses in Little Italy: The Saint Martin Hotel, which is only marginally closer to the Tattaglia warehouse to the west (extort the hotel, but buy the room later). The Bowery Hotel is only needed when taking in the Tattaglia warehouse on the east side of town. This is a Barzini stronghold, and should be left well alone. Hotel Alioto would be the first choice for your next safehouse; it's near Brooklyn so you can extend your empire before you're given a safehouse there later in the game. The cost is astronomical, but it will pay for itself when you're running from the cops after you just robbed Savings and Loans. MOBFACE CLOTHING Keep it stylish. Keep it smart. But keep on buying it! The respect bonuses are exceptional, and the clothing is reasonably inexpensive. Try to get two or three complete outfits. FBI AGENTS There's only one FBI agent in the whole of Little Italy, and it's only necessary to find him if you start a mob war. As the Tattaglias are the major problem, you're likely to be dealing with them primarily. Check Tom's report; there's no concern until you start tackling down warehouses. STOLEN SHIPMENTS There are no stolen shipments in Little Italy, so don't concern yourself with finding any. FAMILY FIGHTS AND EXECUTIONS There's only one spot where an attack between rival Families occurs; just north of the black market merchant selling the upgraded pistol you want. Meet him during the day to minimize the chances of being attacks, or at night to experience the battle. Look out for two locations where an execution takes place. FILM REELS Collecting the 100 film reels nets you a total of 100,000 respect points. It's vital to find as many as possible during the early stages, as they really help you race through respect levels. Make sure you find all 20 in the greater Little Italy area. Optionally, head to neighboring boroughs to claim the stashes there, too. Get as many film reels as possible, as early as possible. Film Reel #1: In the northeast corner of the alley nest to the Verona warehouse. Film Reel #2: In front of the door inside the fenced in area. Film Reel #3: Just inside the St. Francis' Hospital gate on the west side. Film Reel #4: Tucked next to the trash bin behind Sicilian Imports Inc. Film Reel #5: Behind the newsstand. Film Reel #26: At the back of the alley near Sterner Street. Film Reel #27: Under the billboard on the north side of the toll plaza. EXECUTION STYLES Finishing a foe with a particularly entertaining or bloody takedown grants you an execution and a respect bonus, which gets all the sweeter once you've completed every execution type. Check your rap sheet, and you'll see the executions you've completed. BURGLARIES/ROBBERIES I know what you're thinking so no, you don't get to rob people and/or stores. Spotting and catching muggers is crucial in the beginning of the game and in this Free Roam. When you're running down the street or doing some crazy turn keep your ear out for the screams of helpless women getting robbed. Once you catch the mugger, you can beat the living snot out of them and take whatever they leave behind; most of the time it's some dough worth around $3,000 (finders keepers!). But watch out for your wanted level. It goes up a lot once you stop a robbery, and you might want to bribe a cop every now and then to keep New York's finest off of your back. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.07 Mission 4 [MIS04] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that we are finally done robbing banks, extorting rackets and businesses, blowing up safes, and collecting film reels let's get back to the main story. Oh, but before that, you should have already bought the safehouse and the Level 2 snub nose. The Level 3 can wait until later (if you haven't bought them, go rob some banks or run around until you get your weekly pay). Now, let's go meet Luca at the Bowery. Luca gives you a snub nose and tells you to shoot the dummy in the chest, the shoulder, and then the knee. But hold on a sec! When the dummy falls onto the boxes, it should reveal some cash ($2,500). If not, then just shoot the boxes until the dough comes out. Now press CAPS to hide behind the wall and do what Luca tells you. Then shoot the truck and then reload. Now follow Luca into the car to drive to Midtown to a meeting with Sollozzo. As you're driving you hear a flashback of a conversation between Don Corleone and Luca Brasi. The Don asks Luca to check out the Sollozzo fellow and to get on the inside. Now this part is timed so don't dilly-dally. When you get there Luca tells you that if anything happens go find Monk. Then he walks in and a cut scene emerges. Luca is chatting with Sollozzo about joining his mob. As Bruno Tattaglia lights Luca's cigarette he stabs Luca in the hand and Silvio Berre strangles Luca with a garrote wire. T.S.! Then Silvio sees you. Uh-oh. When game starts again go and hind behind the boxes. Fire carefully and try not to miss. When everyone is killed in that area, go and hide behind the wall to the left. Some more Tattaglia thugs run out the back door. Shoot them and move on. When you step into the kitchen, another thug walks through the door. Shoot him and move on. Don't go right. There's a door that leads to a bar. Shoot all the thugs through the glass. Then kill Sollozzo. Now we have to run from the cops. When you get into the street try to find a roadster if you can't get any car that you're used to driving and run like hell! When you reach Little Italy you're safe but the clock's still ticking. Get to your safehouse to beat the mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.08 Mission 5 [MIS05] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the emotional phone call with Monk you can start exploring Little Italy or, if it's the afternoon already, you can go to the meeting place. I suggest to wait and then to meet Monk. He'll tell you that Monk's going to meet you at DeMantagna's, the first business you extorted. Go meet him. Before you walk into the shop shoot the glass then vault over the barrier into the shop. You may ask "Why?" Well the simple reason is this: a gunfight is coming up (Oops! Spoiler!) and it'll be easier for you to shoot the mobsters through a no-glass empty space then it will be to shoot out the glass first. Here comes a cut scene. Now in the cut scene the barber, Monk, and the Don all get shot. Now you have to protect Frankie, Monk's sister. Kill all the thugs outside (I counted three) then go after the punk who has Frankie. Shoot the thug in the head. Another cut scene. Now you have to follow the ambulance that has the Don. Follow it closely or else you'll lose it and fail the mission. Keep following it until it hits the bridge and auto "driver" takes over. Kill all the thugs then interrogate the guy with the puppet icon above his head. He says Sollozzo has Tom Hagen, your consigliere, in a diner in Brooklyn. Don't worry about Tom. He can take care of himself. Before you leave though, blow up the racket truck on the left side of the bridge to reaveal @3,000. Get into the ambulance anddrive to the hospital...fast! When you get there you see Sonny getting allcareless and slapping Fredo in the back of the head. Then you see Peter Clemenza, Michael and Sonny Corleone's "teacher", calling you over. You tell him what happened and he tells you to go to the compound. Let's do just that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.09 Mission 6 [MIS06] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By now you should at least be at level 15 respect so upgrade everything so that all your skills are leveled. From this point forward, I'm not going to tell you when to upgrade. You just have to do it every time you gain a level. When you get there talk to the fat guy outside and he'll tell you how great of a man Luca was. Now head on inside and listen to the gossip being exchanged between the two men. Tom Hagen talked himself out of being kidnapped! That's a new one. Now head on into Tom's office and talk to him. Yay! You're an Enforcer now. Head on out and talk to the other fat guy and learn that Clemenza waiting for you over at the Falconite. Not so fast! No this isn't another Free Roam but it is the most fun in the entire game! Contract Hits! Wohoo! Talk to the balding guy in front of the doorway and accept the job. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.10 Hit 1 [HIT01] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You heard Sal Tessio. Just kill him using hand to hand strikes and you're finished. $2,500! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.11 Hit 2 [HIT02] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go back to Sal and get your second hit objective, Donnie Marinelli. You hears Sal. Let's go and whack this slime ball! Head over to club where Donnie is at. Careful now. It's surrounded by Tattaglia goons. I suggest just running in and killing the guy straight away. Once he's taken care of head back to Sal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.12 Hit 3 [HIT03] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Speak to Sal. He'll tell you that the next guy on your hit list is Tony Bianchi. Head over to the whore house where he's located. This hit is kind of like the Hitman games. Start by going to the fourth floor and garroting the guy guarding the door (sorry). Then garrote the guy looking at books. Then go straight in and kill Tony. It's that simple, and you got $15,000 richer! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.13 Hit 4 [HIT04] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Brown Bomber Leisure Coat Open $5,400 1,690 respect 2/2 pattern 12/12 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Dress Shirt Purchased ------ ------------- 1/3 pattern 11/12 color w/Leisure Coat ---------------------------------------------------------- Pants Casual Pants $0 0 respect 1/2 pattern 9/12 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Shoes Wing Tips $720 225 respect ----------- 4/6 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Hat Snap Brim $480 150 respect 2/2 pattern 17/18 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Total $6,270 2,065 respect Yes you guessed it. Head over to Sal to get your next-to-last hit for this part of the game. He tells you to kill the Tattaglia's consigliere. Wow! Big job. He's all the way in Little Italy though so drive there. Once you get there head downstairs and hide by the archway leading into the garage. When you see the maid start to walk go back upstairs and wait for her to come up. Once she's nearby strangle her to death. Then go back downstairs and strangle the bodyguard. Then take out your level 2 snub nose and shoot Freddy until he falls. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.14 Hit 5 [HIT05] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The last hit for this part of the game is a little bit tricky. You have to burn Johnny Tattaglia. So right after Sal stops talking go and get some Molotovs. Then head on over to where Johnny is BUT stay out of sight when you get there. Once you're there take out all the thugs by blowing up the firing barrels. Once they're all dead, Molotov Johnny to death. NOTE: Right after this mission it would be wise to buy the level 3 snub nose. If you don't have enough dough try robbing some banks or waiting until your weekly payment comes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.15 Mission 7 [MIS07] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is mission is fairly challenging. You have to go and protect the Don while he's in the hospital. Blueberry Paisano Leisure Coat Open w/Vest $9,000 2,815 respect 1/2 pattern 6/12 color and Tie ---------------------------------------------------------- Dress Shirt Purchased ------ ------------- 1/3 pattern 6/12 color w/Coat ---------------------------------------------------------- Tie Purchased ------ ------------- 7/9 pattern 10/17 color w/Coat ---------------------------------------------------------- Vest Purchased ------ ------------- 1/4 pattern 6/12 color w/Coat ---------------------------------------------------------- Pants Dress Pants $1,080 340 respect 2/4 pattern 6/12 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Shoes Dress Shoes $0 0 respect ----------- 2/6 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Hat Snap Brim $480 150 respect 1/2 pattern 6/18 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Total $10,560 3,305 respect Now go to the Falconite and talk to Clemenza. He'll tell you to go and guard the Don because he thinks there might be another attempt on his life. Drive to the St. Francis Hospital in northern Little Italy. You then see a cut scene. Things are heating up between Frankie and you. Ooo-la-la! Anyway, when you get back to the game talk to the guard so he can take your guns away. Dang it. Now, when the door opens, go to Monk's room. You see a cut scene between you and Frankie then an assassin comes to kill the Don! Kill him and get his gun. Then Monk tells you to get Frankie out. Let's go! Now this mission is kind of self explanatory. Just run through the hospital killing all the thugs until you get to the garage with the ambulance. Frankie "steals" it to go find Tom and you have to go find Michael. Now there are about two to three more thugs in the area so be on the look out. Once they're taken care of Michael comes out of the Don's room. WAIT!!! Before talking to him there's a bag of cash in the Don's room. Go and get it. Now you can talk to Michael. In the cut scene you see the captain punch Michael in the face. Tom Hagen arrives just in time to save you from a wallop as well. Go downstairs and bribe the cop. He tells there are more cops in the alley. Go through the door and into the alley on the left. Go behind the first cop and garrote him. Then strangle the second and the third cop. The fourth cop you can garrote again. Now go through the door and take out your level 3 .38. This is where that gun comes really into play. Slay the three cops inside the garage and go upstairs just to see the sergeant run away after brutally raping Rosa. Talk to her and she tells you that he's yours for the taking. Yes! You know what to do. RACKET TRUCKS As before, racket trucks are to be attacked when you're about to start a mission, extort a business, and the opportunity presents itself. You must take over a certain number of racket trucks to reach 100 percent. BANKS Until you have a safehouse in Brooklyn (which you're given later so there's no need to buy one now) and get promoted again, the Williamsburg Bank in the middle of Brooklyn isn't a wise venue to heist. Stay with what you know; Savings and Loan in Little Italy nets you only $2,000 less. SAFES Demolish every safe. I can't stress this enough. Don't forget about the one in the RX building in Brooklyn. CONTRACT HITS After Mission 6, the venerable Salvatore Tessio contracts you for a total of five hits in the Little Italy and Brooklyn area. All are in and around buildings you should have taken over by now. Remember to complete all five hits before Mission 7. BRIBING THE POLICE If you need to lose some heat, the police station in Little Italy is still by far the easiest to reach. The Brooklyn Police Department is in the middle of town and viable only if you're heading away from a mismanaged extortion attempt. WAREHOUSES AND TRANSPORT HUBS Warehouses to Extort: Chinaware Wholesaler Storage Facility Location: Rivington Street and Pitt Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of the Racket Boss: Grabs and Strangles Min Payout: $1,000 Max Payout: $4,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $1,250 Max Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $5,000 Net Value: $$$ Directions: Go to the Chinaware Wholesaler Storage Facility. Then advance on the racket boss and take over your first warehouse! Italia Warehouse Location: Madison Street and Market Street Controlling Family: Stracci Weakness of the Racket Boss: Grabs and Strangles Min Payout: $2,000 Max Payout: $8,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $2,500 Max Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $10,000 Net Value: $$$ Directions: Go to the Italia Warehouse. Lipari Warehouse Location: Bank Street and Clarkson Street Controlling Family: Cuneo Weakness of the Racket Boss: Threatening with Firearms Min Payout: $3,500 Max Payout: $14,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $4,375 Max Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $17,500 Net Value: $$ Directions: Go to the Lipari Warehouse. When you get upstairs slay everyone in sight and move further into the warehouse. When you get out go down stairs and through the double doors, killing anyone who messes with you. When that's over go upstairs, kill the thug to the left, blow the safe, and take over the warehouse. Three down one to go. Verona Warehouse Location: Morton Street and Jude Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Weakness of the Racket Boss: Reasoning/Intimidating Min Payout: $2,000 Max Payout: $8,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $2,500 Max Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $10,000 Net Value: $$$ Directions: Go to the Verona Warehouse. When you get there throw a Molotov or a dynamite stick into the parked cars. If you don't have any, just shoot everyone. When they're taken care of, go through the entire warehouse picking up health and ammo. Not much to say because this warehouse is exactly the same as the first one. Find the boss, interrogate him, and then blow the safe. RIVAL FAMILY COMPOUNDS The Tattaglia compound, known as "The Citadel," is in the northeastern part of Brooklyn, and shouldn't be attempted yet; wait until you've risen a rank in the Corleone organization. WEAPON PURCHASES AND UPGRADES Brooklyn has nine black market merchants, and most of them sell the standard ammunition or weaponry at inflated prices. However, the merchant down by the docks in the southern area has a marvelous weapon; the assassin's pistol. It isn't cheap ($250,000), but it's the best pistol you'll ever use. Don't waste money on the level 2 pistol; save up until you can buy this one. SAFEHOUSES Hotel Alioto in Little Italy is a good place to purchase (although you'd be better off buying the assassin's pistol at this point), as it's a bridge journey to Brooklyn, and a good spot to tackle the Cuneo warehouse in Little Italy's Westside industrial park. Purchase this if you can. St. Sebastian is the other safehouse that's currently available (although a free safehouse opens up, and is a much better option). A contract hit takes place here, but you don't have to take this over to complete the hit. Purchase this hotel only if you need to buy up all the safehouses. MOBFACE CLOTHING Your flashy get-up elicits more than just a series of flattering responses from the general public; it's a reasonably cheap way to add respect points while looking good in the process. $179,400 buy you everything and gives you 56,130 respect points. Try to have three or four complete outfits. FBI AGENTS You start a mob war if you're systematically dismantling the Tattaglia empire (which you should be doing). If a mob war begins, torch a Tattaglia business; this is difficult if you've removed them from the extortion rackets across town! So, a better bet is to find the agent in Little Italy, or seek out St. Anne's church, and run into the basement to find Brooklyn's only FBI Agent on the take. STOLEN SHIPMENTS There's one stolen shipment in Brooklyn, and fortunately, it is in the crate- filled outdoor storage yard where the black market merchant if selling the assassin's pistol. Locate the package at the same time you purchase the pistol. FAMILY FIGHTS AND EXECUTIONS There's only one spot an attack between rival Families occurs; in the grounds of Brooklyn city hall, just west of the black market merchant. If you need a bomb, meet the merchant during the day to lessen the chances of stepping into this bloodbath...unless your trigger finger's extra itchy. AMBUSHES There are three ambush areas in Brooklyn, and as always, each near a black market merchant. Head to purchase goods from them during the day to minimize your ambush chances. FILM REELS There's no easier way to earn 100,000 respect points than to scour the entire city for film reels. There are 17 in Brooklyn. Film Reel #28: Behind the low walls across from Tattaglia Hub, on the west side. Film Reel #29: On Clemenza's porch. Film Reel #30: Tucked in the nook behind Dr. Marshall's Clinic. Film Reel #31: Behind the low walls, on the north side. Film Reel #32: In the southern tollbooth. Film Reel #33: At the far end of the docks, behind the crates next to the ship. Film Reel #34: Tucked between the fence and the garage at the New York Packing Plant (a.k.a. Sant'Ella Warehouse). Film Reel #35: Behind the trunks to the Embassy Club's alley. Film Reel #36: At the back of the alley behind the Full Moon. Film Reel #37: At the back of the alley near the Full Moon. Film Reel #38: Behind the crates in back of Cafe Vitales. Film Reel #39: In the mausoleum next to St. Michael Archangel church. Film Reel #40: In the northeast corner of the crate-filled area. Film Reel #41: Behind the stand. Film Reel #42: Near the fence, behind the green cargo containers. Film Reel #43: Tucked next to the stoop with the burning barrel in front of it. Film Reel #44: Near the garage next to the lead pipe. EXECUTION STYLES Finishing a foe with a particularly entertaining or bloody takedown grants you an execution and a respect bonus, which gets all the sweeter once you've completed every execution type. Check your rap sheet, and you'll see the executions you've completed. BURGLARIES/ROBBERIES Looking for muggers isn't that important in this part of the game because if you compare the amount of money you get for stopping them and the amount of money you get for completing a mission, there's a big difference! But still, keep an eye out for those robberies. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.20 Mission 10 [MIS10] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Pinstripped Protagonist Double- Closed w/ $12,000 3,750 respect 3/4 pattern 3/12 color Breasted Coat Tie ---------------------------------------------------------- Dress Shirt Purchased ------ ------------- 1/3 pattern 12/12 color w/Coat ---------------------------------------------------------- Tie Purchased ------ ------------- 1/9 pattern 17/17 color w/Coat ---------------------------------------------------------- Pants Dress Pants $1,200 375 respect 3/4 pattern 3/12 color w/Belt ---------------------------------------------------------- Shoes Wing Tips $720 225 respect ----------- 6/6 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Hat Fedora-Wide $900 285 respect 2/2 pattern 4/10 color Brim ---------------------------------------------------------- Total $14,820 4,635 respect Now go to Clemenza's house. After the surprising (and long) cut scene go inside the restaurant. Go upstairs and pick up the bomb and the Molotov. Then look down into the garage. You see two Tattaglia mobster trying to shake down YOUR business. Not good. Kill them then go down and talk to the chef. He'll tell you to follow him. Do that and he'll open up the door upstairs. There take the shotgun, RX bottle, and another Molotov. Now return to Clemenza. Follow Clemenza and go into the Tattaglia owned business. Kill everyone downstairs and the thug that emerges from the room to the left. Kill the thug that's waiting at the top of the stairwell, and all the thugs on the second floor. Now, this is important, plant the bomb as far away from the objective spot as possible. You'll know why in a sec. When the timer starts, run out of the room and you'll see a Tattaglia goon come out of the other room. Throw him down the stairs and go inside the room. $$$! Take it all and run like hell downstairs! This might take a couple of tries but you can do it. Here's where the fun begins. After the cut scene move slowly through the storage yard. Be careful. Paulie blows up barrels and boxes full of explosives every turn. Once you're at the end just kill Paulie. It's as simple as that. Now we have to escape the police thanks to Rocco. Drive to the safehouse. That's it. You get $10,000 + $2,000 that we found in the Tattaglia business, 7,000 respect, a bonus film clip, and a new safehouse. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.21 Mission 11 [MIS11] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beer Goggles Dress Shirt w/Suspenders $1,800 565 respect 2/3 pattern 6/12 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Pants Casual Pants $0 0 respect 3/3 pattern 2/12 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Shoes Loafers $540 170 respect ----------- 3/6 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Hat Snap Brim $480 150 respect 1/2 pattern 13/18 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Glasses Horn Rims $300 95 respect ----------- 2/8 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Total $3,120 980 respect Now before Monk calls this is an ideal time to rob some banks, like the Williamsburg bank in Brooklyn. After you stash a lot of money. Go buy the assassin's pistol. Trust me. It's so worth it. After that's done head over to Little Italy and save. Then Monk calls. Go meet him in Midtown for a drink. He tells you that Clemenza told him to tell you (wow) to meet Tom Hagen at the Compound. Not yet. And no this isn't another Free Roam. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.22 Hit 6 [HIT06] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No Jacket Required Dress Shirt Rolled-up $3,000 940 respect 1/3 pattern 12/12 color w/Suspenders and Tie ---------------------------------------------------------- Tie Purchased ------ ------------ 1/9 pattern 16/17 color w/Shirt --------------------------------------------------------------- Pants Casual Pants $0 0 respect 3/3 pattern 1/12 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Shoes Wing Tips $720 225 respect ----------- 1/6 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Total $3,720 1,165 respect Talk to the guy at the church in Hell's Kitchen. He's called "The Trojan," God knows why. Accept the hit. Now let's go kill this Plinio guy. Head on over to the overhead bridge to get a view of where he is. Just throw the Molotov you find on the ledge and that's it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.23 Hit 7 [HIT07] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go back to the church where The Trojan is located talk to him to get your next contract hit, Leon Grossi. Go on over to the Corleone owned bakery in Little Italy. When you get there kill the two thugs guarding Leon then waddle him over to the furnace. Throw him in by pressing W. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.24 Hit 8 [HIT08] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once again go meet The Trojan. He has another hit for you. But this one has a weird twist. It says to get the bonus condition you have to hit Oscar Zavarelle first in the knee, then the shoulder, and finally the chin (head). And off we go. When you get to the alley where Oscar is killing all the Stracci thugs first then when Oscar shows himself shoot him in the knee. When he falls down hit him in shoulder to make him drop his gun. Then finish him off. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.25 Mission 12 [MIS12] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lampone Jr. Sports Coat Closed w/ $7,200 2,250 respect 2/4 pattern 5/12 color Tie ---------------------------------------------------------- Dress Shirt Purchased ------ ------------ 1/3 pattern 1/12 color w/Coat ---------------------------------------------------------- Tie Purchased ------ ------------ 1/9 pattern 9/17 color w/Coat --------------------------------------------------------------- Pants Casual Pants $0 0 respect 3/3 pattern 8/12 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Shoes Wing Tips $720 225 respect ----------- 2/6 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Hat Snap Brim $480 150 respect 2/2 pattern 5/18 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Total $8,400 2,625 respect This is mission is probably the most fun mission in the entire game. And it's pretty self explanatory. Follow Rocco until you get to the stables. After the gruesome cut scene a guard appears. Instead of fighting him, just strangle him quietly. When Rocco is finished you lead the way. Come out of the stables and take a right. Go up the stairs and pause. When the guard appears strangle him. Now go to the left and up the stairs to the kitchen. There's no need to kill the butler so ignore him. When he leaves go out into the hallway and kill the guard to the right. Go up the stairs and kill the guard at the landing. When the maid disappears from the next room into the hallway kill the guard guarding the hallway. Before going into the mission end circle go to the left and through the door onto the balcony. Kill the guard here and take the sack of cash. Now go into the objective circle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.26 Mission 13 [MIS13] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tiger, Tiger Vest Open w/ $9,000 2,815 respect 2/4 pattern 7/12 color Rolled up and Untied ---------------------------------------------------------- Dress Shirt Purchased ------ ------------ 2/3 pattern 10/12 color w/Vest ---------------------------------------------------------- Tie Purchased ------ ------------ 9/9 pattern 6/17 color w/Vest ---------------------------------------------------------- Pants Dress Pants $1,200 375 respect 3/4 pattern 10/12 color w/Belt ---------------------------------------------------------- Shoes Dress Shoes $0 0 respect ----------- 5/6 color ---------------------------------------------------------- Hat Fedora- $840 265 respect 1/2 pattern 10/10 color Narrow Brim ---------------------------------------------------------- Total $11,040 3,455 respect Head on over to Midtown to meet Tom. Now go up to the fourth floor and eradicate all of the thugs in here. Blow the safe and take over the racket. RACKET TRUCKS Snag swag and information from racket trucks when you're about to start a mission or extort a business, and the opportunity presents itself. Continue the hijacking which also reveals the city's many rackets. Stop a truck at a junction, shoot the engine or windshield, defeat the gangsters, talk to the driver, and flee to a safehouse. Another excellent plan is to follow a truck and stop it outside a business you own; then Corleone mobsters help you with the attack! BANKS Purchasing the St. Sebastian Hotel's safehouse room allows easier access to the majority of Brooklyn, but you'll need to heist the Williamsburg Bank four times to replenish the money it costs. This is still advisable in order to complete the campaign thoroughly, but there are better returns to your money. The New Jersey National Bank is an excellent way to accrue a sizeable amount of money easily, especially if your base of operations is the Lamplight Rooms. This safehouse is only $10,000 more than the bank heist take, so you'll make your money back easily. SAFES Every venue, including the warehouses and transport hubs and the hospitals, need their safes cracked. This lets you make even more money and respect for each business you take over, and it doesn't jeopardize the payment your shakedown earns you and the Family. CONTRACT HITS Once Mission 11 is over, The Trojan beckons you over for another three hits. One of them take place in New Jersey, giving you the perfect opportunity to buy the Lamplight Rooms and begin to tackle this area afterward. Try to have all of Tessio's previous hits, and the Trojan's three, complete before Mission 15. BRIBING THE POLICE If you need to lose some heat, the police station in Brooklyn is easy to reach if you own the St. Sebastian Hotel safehouse. Otherwise, talk to the police chief on your way to or from a job, assuming your heat isn't too high. The New Jersey police station is easily accessible from Lamplight Rooms about three blocks away. Bring down your heat before you attempt a new job or a bank robbery. The cash expenditure is worth it. Ignore those beat cops and bribe the big fish! WAREHOUSES AND TRANSPORT HUBS Warehouses and Hubs to Extort: (Brooklyn) Tattaglia Hub Location: Gold Street and John Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia (duh...) Weakness of the Racket Boss: Grabs and Strangles Min Payout: $3,750 Max Payout: $15,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $4,690 Max Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $18,750 Net Value: $$$$ Directions: Go to the Tattaglia Hub. When you get there just work your way through the complex maze of outdoor box establishments and warehouse floors until you get to the racket boss on the second floor. Don't settle for any price under $15,000. Oh, and blow the safe downstairs in the main building. Sant'Elia Warehouse Location: Main Street and Empire Street Controlling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Racket Boss: Anything Min Payout: $5,000 Max Payout: $20,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $6,250 Max Payout w/ W.O.R.B: $25,000 Net Value: $$$ Directions: Go to the Sant'Elia Warehouse. This is a tough one. Even I have to say that. Now blast through the roadblock and kill the two thugs by the other roadblock. Kill the two thugs by the enterance to the box area. Now advance through and kill all the thugs here. Blow up the explosives to make it easier. Be careful. There's one fat thug hiding behind the crates behind you and another one comes into play when the second round of thugs comes out. When the outside is clear move into the warehouse. Kill everyone here, grabbing the health and the dynamite along the way. When they are finished talk to the boss. Right after you start to throw him around another line of three to four thugs comes in to protect him. Kill them all and buy him out for about $22,000. Now getting out isn't easier then getting in. There are mobsters everywhere. I just winged it and ran like hell! RIVAL FAMILY COMPOUNDS The Tattaglia Compound, known as "The Citadel", is in northeastern Brooklyn. Tool up with an upgraded weapon, extra health potions for during the assault, and one to two bombs. Your task is to attack both of the houses, and lay a bomb in the basement of each, picking up a second bomb from the Tattaglia's stash. Once you take it over, you can return here to use it as a safehouse and to plunder the cellar's ammunition dumps. WEAPON PURCHASES AND UPGRADES By now you should have already purchased the assassin's pistol and used on numerous missions. Now you should cultivate your cash. You need to save up for the most impressive weapon of all: the Dillinger. It costs $500,000, so it's going to take some time, but the final missions, and the remaining freelancing, go all the better with something truly outstanding in the armaments department. SAFEHOUSES Purchase the Lamplight Rooms in New Jersey as soon as you attempt to take over this area. It is owned by the Corleones, so there's no battling to take this venue. Instead, only cold hard cash will do. As long as you have $10,000 and a stick of dynamite, you could heist the bank down the road, flee to this place, and purchase it with your robbery money, gaining a safe place to lie low! MOBFACE CLOTHING Your flashy get-up elicits more than just a series of flattering responses from the general public; it's a reasonably cheap way to add respect points while looking good in the process. $179,400 buy you everything and gives you 56,130 respect points. Try to have five or six complete outfits. FBI AGENTS You will start a mob war if you're systematically dismantling the Tattaglia empire (which you should be doing). If a mob war begins, torch a Tattaglia business. This is difficult if you've removed them from extortion rackets around town! Seek out St. Anne's church, and run into the basement to find Brooklyn's only FBI agent on the take. Over in New Jersey, the only FBI agent hiding out is also in a church, on the western side of town, just to one side of the main park. If you're infuriating the Straccis, this is a good place to head if a mob war with another Family begins. STOLEN SHIPMENTS There's one stolen shipment in Brooklyn, and fortunately, it is in the crate- filled outdoor storage yard where the black market merchant if selling the assassin's pistol. Locate the package at the same time you purchase the pistol. There are three stolen shipments in New Jersey (if you include the two in the Tunnels linking it to Hell's Kitchen and Little Italy), but the main one is in the rail yard accessible from the south, northwest, or north portions of Garden Parkway Viaduct. Locate it along with the film reels dotted around this area. FAMILY FIGHTS AND EXECUTIONS There's only one spot where an attack between rival Families occurs; in the New Jersey Park, between 4th and 5th streets. The attack occurs near the two black market merchants plying their trade here. If you require an shotgun upgrade or a tommy gun, meet the merchant during the day to lessen the chances of stepping into this fracas...unless you're anxious to slay more mobsters. Also check out one execution location, a fight between gangsters, and a bum on the east part of the rail yard. AMBUSHES There are three ambush areas in New Jersey, and as always, each is near a black market merchant. Purchase goods from them during the day to minimize your ambush chances. FILM REELS With 17 film reels in Brooklyn and 16 in New Jersey, if you find all of them, you can add 33,000 respect points easily, if not quickly. Film Reel #45: Behind the low wall, on the northern side. Film Reel #46: Behind the low wall, on the eastern side. Film Reel #47: On the southern side of the hospital steps. Film Reel #48: Behind the low wall, on the northern side. Film Reel #49: Behind the low wall, on the southern side. Film Reel #50: In the little nook near St. George's Church. EXECUTION STYLES Facing an opponent and not only dispatching him, but defeating him with a wildly entertaining execution is an excellent way to gain respect. Anyway, now you have to drive to a funeral home in Midtown. When you get there go all the way down to 34th street. Inside the nook by the funeral hom e should be some hidden cash. Now sneak into the garage to the left of the home and stranglethe thug there. Now hide behind a wall and kill all the thugs in the main room. When they're all killed head upstairs via elevator. Now the bonus condition is self-explanatory. Run him over with a car. Go to where Mario is located. When you get to the train yard don't play around with the mobsters. Straight forward, in front of you when you enter the yard in any enterance should be a ramp. Take your car up the ramp and Mario starts to run. He freezes when he has no place to go. Run over him and that's that. Oh, wait! Escape the mobsters afterwards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.35 Hit 11 [HIT11] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ronnie Tosca is the underground swine who stays out of the limelight, runs rackets, and pressures black market traders from behind the scenes. Go to the meeting place which is actually in Midtown. When you get there drive your car into the blue rectangle. After the mini-movie drive Sonny to the Cuneo bar he was talking about. While you're on the road he tells you to be straight forward about killing people. You know, make their brains spill all over your suit. That's some cool stuff! Anyway, when you get there follow Sonny into the bar and turn left. Two thugs come towards you. Kill them and kill the two in the bar area. Then go back and through the door near the enterance. Walk down the stairs and kill the two thugs trying to whack you with a lead pipe and a baseball bat. Yeesh! Kill them and go through the door at the end of the hall. As soon as you open it, shoot the explosive crate to save some time. Now walk into the office and interrogate the Cuneo mobster. He tells they're run by some Cuneo warehouse. Then you see the racket boss (cough...sissy) run out of the bar, jump into a racket truck, and speed away. Let's go chase him. But first go upstairs and there should be some hidden cash in the wired-in chicken coop. Now you can... Get into the car with Sonny and chase the truck. Through twisting streets and hairpin turns you will go until you get to the train yard. When you do drive to the Tattaglia owned place in the middle. Weird. Anyway kill all the goons inside the warehouse and go upstairs. The fat man tells you everything, but Sonny doesn't kill him. Whatever. Now you have to go to the Cuneo warehouse the fat guy was telling' you about and take it over. Once you get there kill the four guys up front. Move through the waves of thugs until you reach the doors at the back of the warehouse. Now kill all the thugs in here and slap the racket boss around until he surrenders. Geez, always in a hurry. Nevertheless, take the coupe and follow him. He'll head to the Little Italy Industrial Park tollbooth. When he gets there will be an ambush. Say good-bye to Sonny. First (do this QUICKLY) go to the right side of the tollbooth and get the hidden cash. Now, follow the assassins (which is harder to do than to say because you've got Tattaglia mobsters chasing you. The assassins will lead you to a warehouse with a minimum population of thugs. Kill all the thugs out front and move through the warehouse to the building in the back. Walk through the double doors and go upstairs. Kill the lone mobster guarding the tollbooth guy and interrogate him. He'll tell you that the assassins are going to some kind of club. Go to the club in Hell's Kitchen. When you get there advance through the club picking off thugs as you move along. Throw a Molotov or two here and there to make them decapitate. Next go down the stairs; inside the basement are about four thugs. Kill them all. When they're all dead advance on the leader. He's a tough nut but just talk to his girl and he'll give in. He'll tell Don Barzini is pulling the strings (it's a pun). Anyway, go to the New Jersey house where Jack is located. Walk up to him and strangle him. Then run like hell! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.39 Hit 13 [HIT13] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In a last desperate attempt to build on the little power the Straccis have left, Don Stracci's young son is determined to cripple the Corleone Family's distribution network. He's brought the muscle to get the job done, too. Nonetheless, we're gonna kill him. Follow the route you took to the warehouse during Mission 18, all the way to Chelsea street, and park up at the enterance, ideally facing left so you can use your vehicle for cover. Get out of the vehicle, finish any foes in front of you, and then train your weapon on the Stracci goons coming down the stairs. Use the right hut and your vehicle as cover. Head up the stairs, shooting any thugs up on the deck, and checking behind you for a thug coming up. When the coast is completely clear, open the door on the upper deck. Curses! Stracci has already begun to blow torch to the place; he blows up an explosives crate, and flees downstairs. See if you can wound him before he disappears. Step into the warehouse, and turn left; there's usually a foe behind a crate there, ready to ambush you. Prevent this from happening. Now train your weapon on the warehouse interior below. A couple of Stracci fellows hide behind crates and cover. Aim and slay them as you move along the gantry. Move down the stairs into the warehouse, and to the open garage door leading outside. Use wall cover and shoot the goon behind the destructible crate. Now for the tricky part. Dash across to the opposite side of the open ground, into the left warehouse, and drop to a crouch, targeting a foe to your right. Step into the warehouse and shoot another Stracci goon to the right, then one behind the crates on the left. Time is pressing; Salvatore is about to blow up this joint! Do not, under any circumstances, blow up the explosives at the top of the stairs or head up there yourself; Salvatore usually detonates the crate and flees out the back door. Instead, look up onto the upper gantry to see Salvatore. Execute him from this distance. Do NOT ascend the steps! Then slay the remaining thugs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.40 Ceremony 4 [CER04] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Sharp Shooter Sport Coat Closed $6,000 1,875 respect 4/4 pattern 1/12 color ------------------------------------------------------------ Dress Shirt Purchased ------ ------------- 1/3 pattern 5/12 color w/Coat ------------------------------------------------------------ Pants Dress Pants $1,200 375 respect 4/4 pattern 1/12 color w/Belt ------------------------------------------------------------ Shoes Wing Tips $720 225 respect ----------- 1/6 color ------------------------------------------------------------ Glasses Sunglasses $600 190 respect ----------- 7/8 color ------------------------------------------------------------ Total $8,520 2,665 respect Now go to the Corleone compound. BANKS The New Jersey National Bank is an excellent way to accrue a sizeable amount of funds easily, especially if your base of operations if the Lamplight Rooms. This safehouse is only $10,000 more than the bank heist take, so you'll make your money back easily. Situated near the Barzini Compound, this is a good second bank heist, as long as you've secured a safehouse nearby such as the Carnegie Club; of course the purchase price is a whopping $125,000. Your main bank heist should instead be the cash-filled Manhattan Trust. Manhattan Trust is an excellent way to make a load of money very quickly, especially as the Chateau Leive is a free safehouse the Corleones gave you earlier. Make this your heist bank of choice in the Midtown area. A good second safehouse to flee to is the Peak, although the room price is an astronomical $150,000. SAFES As always, every venue, including the warehouses and transport hubs, need to be checked for safes, and then the safes must be cracked. Remember that clinics have safes too! CONTRACT HITS A total of five hits, three from Peter Clemenza, and the final two from The Trojan, allow you to tackle big-league gangsters across town. Because you have safehouses in every area, do a quick save after each hit. BRIBING THE POLICE If you need to lose some heat, check in with the chief at any of these stations. Point your gun at him until he coughs up about $17,000. Blow up the safe in the other room and leave the way you came in. Be careful! There still might be Cuneo thugs around the area so move through the was-to-be battlefields like there are still thugs cowering in the corners. Hiding is more appropriate but you can do as you wish. Kill all the thugs in the main area and move in through the door. Once the door opens run and hide behind the two crates. Two thugs come into view once you look through the window. Kill them both. Now everyone knows you're here. Go upstairs and slay any thugs here. Kill them all and hide behind either the left or right look-out room. When a thug comes into view, shoot him. Move forward and crouch behind the second set of crates and shoot the thug standing near the garage. A Barzini mobster should appear behind you so shoot him too. Another thug is also in this area. Once this area is clear, head up the stairs to the right. Go through the door and hide behind the pillar next to the crate marked "LIQUOR". This is an excellent vantage point for killing all the thugs below. Once you think they're all dead head forward on the bridge until another thug appears on the stairs. Kill him and then a couple of thugs should come out the door in front of you. Kill them and check the lower level for hidden mobsters. Once you're done here go through the door and hide behind the crates in front of you. There should be if not one but two goons on the bridge. Kill them and advance down the staircase to the right. Once you're down a mobster should appear behind the wall near the other stair- case. Kill him and go hide behind the wall right of the left enterance into this building. Open the door, check for thugs, if the area is clear go hide behind the wall to the left of the archway into the next room. Crouch and move behind the crates. Quickly strafe left, stand up, and fire away at the thug here. Once he's dead move up the stairs and extort the racket boss. Blow up the safe in the next room and run out of here. Once again, watch your step for any remaining thugs. This warehouse is giant providing lots of extra respect bonuses. Once EVERYONE is dead head up the stairs in the main building and take over this racket. Blow up the safe on the first floor too. RIVAL FAMILY COMPOUNDS The Stracci Compound, a local estate called The Heights, is to the west of New Jersey. Tool up with an upgraded weapon, extra health points to award yourself during the assault, and one bomb. Your task is to attack both of the houses, and lay a bomb in the basement of each, picking up a second bomb from the Stracci's stash. Afterward, you can return here to use it as a safehouse and loot the cellar's ammunition dumps. Use the same plan of attack on the Cuneo Compound in Hell's Kitchen, but do it when you've finished your mob war with the Straccis. WEAPON PURCHASES AND UPGRADES If there's one type of merchandise you should be prepared to shell out the big bucks for, it is a weapon upgrade. The black market merchants of New Jersey can sell you the street sweeper (the upgraded shotgun), the shady dealers of Hell's Kitchen can offer you the python (the upgraded magnum), but the Dillinger for sale in Midtown, on 25th street, should already be in your collection. Complete your gun cabinet collection now! SAFEHOUSES If you are determined to buy up all the real estate that's for sale, you should purchase every safehouse in New Jersey, and Hell's Kitchen. You can save Midtown for later (unless you're rolling in cash because you already have Chateau Leive. MOBFACE CLOTHING Whether you're looking sharp or threateningly deranged, nothing says "Don of New York in training" like a new set of threads. $179,400 buys you everything, and gives you 56,130 respect points. Try to have around 12 complete outfits. FBI AGENTS The locations of the FBI Agents in New Jersey and Hell's Kitchen should be paramount importance to you, as you should be starting a mob war with the Straccis and Cuneos (but hopefully, not at the same time!). With this in mind, check the map when you're about to start a mob war, locate the FBI agent, and cool things down a touch. STOLEN SHIPMENTS The stolen shipment in New Jersey is in the rail yard accessible from the south, northwest, or north portions of Garden Parkway Viaduct. Locate it along with the film reels dotted around this area. The stolen shipment in Hell's Kitchen is also in a rail yard, but at the extreme north end, under a series of tunnels accesses at the south end of 12th Avenue. Theres a solitary film reel nearby as well. Also don't forget the special secret stolen shipment, where a gang of bellboys must be tackled before their goods can be stolen! FAMILY FIGHTS AND EXECUTIONS The Family fight occurs near Stromboli's Supplies, at the end of Galvin Street, near the two black market merchants. If you require a magnum upgrade or pistol ammunition, meet the merchant during the day to lessen the chances of stepping into this fracas...unless you're anxious to slay more mobsters. Look for a second Family fight under the highway south of Hell's Kitchen itself, and two locations where an execution takes place. AMBUSHES There are three ambush areas in Hell's Kitchen, and as always, each is near a black market merchant. Head to purchase goods from them during the say to minimize your ambush chances. FILM REELS With 20 film reels in Hell's Kitchen, collect them all to maximize your respect level by 20,000 points. Film Reel #63: Inside the boxcar. EXECUTION STYLES You should have completed all the execution styles by now. Ignore the proprietor, and stride around the counter to the door leading to the back room. Head up the stairs with your gun drawn. Jaggy isn't the only patron in this establishment; there are three Barzini bodyguards on the upper floor. Use the wall cover, head to the top of the stairs, aim at the first one, and take him out. The other two goons are on opposite sides of this building, and you don't want to be caught in the crossfire, so enter the landing, and head toward the large window. Slay the second bodyguard who takes cover behind the sofa. Take cover by the wall near the clock, and shoot the final of the three foes who opens the bedroom door. Move to the wall on the left side of the bedroom door, and use the camera to peer inside at Jovino. Do not harm Rosa! Step through the doorway, targeting Jovino's head, and shoot him with a single round. You can line up the head shot if you hide to the right side of the door. Inspect the room and optionally talk to the girls. Rosa doesn't understand the violence, and she tells you as much if you talk to her. But didn't she have Barzini hit men in her establishment? Leave. Your heat level rises if you shoot witnesses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.43 Hit 15 [HIT15] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Begin your mission with your heat level at a minimum. Bribe a beat cop in Midtown to ensure that the violence to come doesn't raise your heat to unmanageable levels. Then drive to the Midtown police station. Four police officers guard Toro, who is hiding behind the police car at the back of the building. Careful gunplay is required. Stand in cover and kneecap the first officer. Another shot would kill the officer, and there's no killing allowed! The crippled cop rises to his feet in a few moments, so kneecap the second and third officer as you run to the far side of the back police vehicle. Watch for a policeman inside the room to the left, behind you. Either kneecap him or ignore his firing, and get down behind the cop car. This hit isn't pretty, but it works if you aim at Toro now (he's likely to be cowering in a corner or around the car) and blast him with a head shot. Do this immediately! Steal the police car and drive away. Do not run over any cops on the way out! If too many prone cops block your path, sprint away instead. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.44 Hit 16 [HIT16] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First do a little preparation before you waltz into a meeting between the Barzinis and the police. Go to the Little Italy police station and bribe the chief. That way, you won't be shot on sight by the cops. Head to the southern part of Little Italy, and approach the Municipal Building on foot, from the west, moving east along Chambers until you reach Lafayette. Park a vehicle at this arch, on Lafayette Street. Don't drive up! Stay silent, and enter the huge, grand archway, maneuvering through the area to this parked car. Beyond this vehicle, the meeting is about to be completed; Testa is walking to the chief now! Continue to creep forward until you reach the car's left front tire, and continue to crouch down at this point. Watch the meeting intently. Do not reveal a weapon yet. Testa is walking toward the chief with his back to you. As soon as the two meet, produce your favored single-shot weapon. Fire as soon as the handshake starts. Fire off a couple of rounds to ensure that Testa is dead. After that, all hell breaks loose! Try to shoot the Barzini henchmen standing near the car you're hiding behind; then flee back to the vehicle you parked, and escape. Shooting the remaining Barzini goons is optional. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.45 Hit 17 [HIT17] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pack some serious henchmen-killing equipment with you before you start this mission. The combat area is the wide-open Union Square. Set off (usually heading south), and stop on 17th Street (or 14th if you're heading north). A Barzini gangster beckons you over. In fact, there are two - one on the north and one on the south side of the square. Approach either one, and talk to him. It takes $10,000 to bribe one. The bribed guard takes off running directly into the park, and the loyal Barzini henchman soon cuts him down. Follow him down, and begin the attack. There are around six guards to off, including the guard you could have bribed at the opposite end of the park (remember, you can only bribe one of them!). Use the low hedges as cover, and blast away. Mazza is milling about in the fountain area. After the bribe is complete, dispatch him in whatever ay you wish. The easiest way id from cover and from a distance. Then spend the remaining time mopping up the other hit men. It's better to stay in cover and check the entire gardens for foes than to retreat and possibly be struck by a bullet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.46 Hit 18 [HIT18] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Head over to St. Charlotte's and lurch a truck into a stationary position at the front doors. Get out, crouch by the rear tire, and plug your first foe through the graveyard enterance to the right. Once one or two bodyguards have been shot from this position (but not Emilio; check the name of the victim before firing!), enter the church via the front doors. Crouch down behind the pews. An enemy comes in from the right side door ahead of you. Shoot him in the head, then check the confessional for health bottle. Head through the church. You can easily defeat a shotgun-wielding thug from the side enterance steps. Now head back to the graveyard. There should be only a couple of thugs remaining, not including Emilio. Use gravestones as cover, pop out, and blast each thug. Then turn and challenge Emilio. Be aware of Emilio's location when you defeat the sixth and final bodyguard. Once all are slain, Emilio runs away. Sprint after him, and execute him on the streets. Don't follow him too far or he may run to a Barzini-owned business, and you'll have multiple targets. He usually runs north on 3rd; drop him before he reaches 42nd Street. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.47 Mission 20 [MIS20] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Mr. C. After the argument you have little choice than to follow Monk. But first check in the alley behind Monk for some hidden cash. Follow him to the hotel and hide behind the wall right of the entrance. Four of five thugs come running so shoot them all. You have to use the stairs so climb up. One thug is behind the bar on the second floor and there are a couple more thugs in there too. Kill them all. When you get back on the staircase though you will be greeted by a mobster. Kill him and continue through the building killing all the thugs until you get to the Mission objective marker. Step inside and a cut scene will emerge with Monk killing an FBI Agent. Then Michael calls and tells you that Monk's dirty. Looks like we have to kill him. Run down the stairs and hop into the sedan parked in front of the hotel. Drive to the other hotel where Monk is. When you get there, you and Monk have one final talk. Then Monk runs away and in his place comes a Cuneo mobster. Kill him and the one inside the little room and run up the stairs. There are three thugs up here, and as soon as you kill them two more come. When everyone's dead head down the stairs on the other side and into the main bar area. Hide behind the bar and pick off one mobster after another. Once they're all dead, kill Monk ='(. The bonus stipulation indicates a taunt, and this is achieved by first kneecapping him. Grab Fabbri by the collar and talk to him. Once you speak with him, your bonus objective is activated. You can now defeat Fabbri however you see fit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.49 Hit 20 [HIT20] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Drive to the base of the steps of the post office on the corner of 9th and 33rd, and crouch behind the sloping wall at the end of the steps, and shoot the nearest bodyguard. Slay the remaining thugs, except for Marco. Once the three Cuneos have been eliminated, kneecap Marco. This temporarily stops him from shooting. Move into the newsstand area and hide behind the corner column. Once he's temporarily incapacitated with a knee shot, grab him. He's a wiggler! Grab Marco, and shove him to the ledge on the opposite side of 9th Avenue. If he pushes you away, soften him up with some quick punches. Now dangle Marco over the side of the ledge, or shove him from the sidewalk, and watch him topple back, over the side and into the rail yard below. For extra amusement, try launching him from the middle of the ledge, so he lands on a railcar! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.50 Mission 21 [MIS21] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After you've saved your game and driven to the Corleone Compound once again, optionally walk up to Sal Tessio and talk to him. Locate Hagen now. Following Sal Tessio's vehicle isn't an option; they are way ahead when you locate a vehicle (either a Family car or the perambulator you arrived in). Head up to Canal Street and turn right. Pass the Bowery and head onto the Manhattan Bridge. At the tollbooth, turn right onto Tiffany Lane. At the junction with Main Street, turn right, and follow the road until you reach Front Street. Turn right once more. Run a block to reach his location, outside the Embassy Club. You're not three steps through the door before a Barzini thug fires a shot from the opposite end of the stepped corridor. Tessio is making a break for it! Secure the ground floor by staying with the team (Cicci stayed behind [he isn't much use to be honest]). Stride up the corridor, and blast the thug who shot at you. Keep firing (use the Dillinger). A second thug on the left alcove near the kitchen door appears. Shoot him. The final thug steps out from the double doors of the bar. Slay him without even stepping into the bar area. All doors to the basement are locked. The only way down is via the elevator to the right of the bar's double doors. Step out, facing left, open the door ahead, and execute the thug behind the door. Step into this office and drop the thug kneeling behind the desk. Pick up the health bottle. Crouch through the door in the opposite wall, and find cover behind the breakable crate. Kill the thug behind the table. Go through the door at the other end of the room, and strafe a waiting thug. Somewhere here (or in the previous room) should be a destructible crate. Break it to find some hidden cash. Now head around the corner and up the steps. Spot Tessio here, but don't fire. Reload and use the wall cover at the top. There's one thug (and sometimes two) back at the entrance. Tackle the last three foes by running across to the side steps, and entering the bar just as before, using cover until there's a single thug left, then circle-strafing him. Once all the Barzini scum have been wiped out, there's only you and Tessio left in the bar. Execute Tessio with whatever weapon you wish. Try peppering his torso with Dillinger bullets. After he's dead head for the main double doors exit - Tom plus a Corleone advisor are waiting for you. Walk inside and talk to Clemenza. He tells you to drive to the St. Albans Hotel in Midtown; Don Stracci has a room there. Do just that. When you get out walk inside the hotel and go up the stairs. Talk to the first Stracci bodyguard and walk through the sliding doors. Next go to the room Don Stracci is in and talk to the second bodyguard. He opens the door for you. Talk to Don Stracci and then follow him into the elevator. When the doors open at the lobby Clemenza shoots Stracci twice with the shotgun. This weakened him up for you. Kill him any way and then slay the rest of the mobsters in the hotel. When they're all dead, speak to Clemenza. He tells you to meet Willy Cicci in a barber shop in Hell's Kitchen. Drive over to the barber shop and talk to Willy. He tells you your next target is Don Cuneo. Drive to the Savannah Hotel like Cicci asks and when you get to the objective square and get out of the car talk to Cicci again. He tells he's going in. Hide behind the fruit stand next to the car. When Cuneo comes out pop him full of lead as well as his bodyguards. Your next objective is to talk to Willy. Go through the basement and up the stairs. Kill all the thugs here and talk to Willy. He tells you to meet Rocco in Brooklyn. Drive to the bar in Brooklyn (which is easier said then done because you have Cuneo thugs in racecars chasing you). When you get there, walk inside and talk to Rocco. He'll tell you he doesn't know where Don Tattaglia is but he knows it's near here. Great. But here comes a stroke of luck. Walk outside and to the right and you'll see a hooker. She'll tell you she's from the St. Sebastian Hotel. Run there. Walk inside and bribe the Tattaglia thug at the foot of the stairs. Go up to the third floor and through the left door. Kill all the thugs here and then kill Tattaglia who's holding a hooker hostage. Wow. Anyway, after he's dead talk to Rocco and he'll tell you to meet Al Neri at the "Cop shop". Nice pun. Drive to the police station in Little Italy. Talk to Al when you get there. He'll tell you that Barzini is the last hit. Drive to the courthouse and park where Al tells you. Wait until Al starts firing and then kill all the Barzini thugs. Before chasing Barzini go up the stairs and check behind the pillars for some hidden cash. Chase Barzini down on foot and then pop your father's murderer full of lead. Now you need to outrun the police for 3 minutes. Get into a fast car and start driving. Go down the Bowery and cross over to 4th Avenue when you hit Midtown. By now the timer should be winding down. Sizzle's Steakhouse. Once again, go right in and talk to the chef straight away. He'll let you have the place for $2,400. Not bad. Now go through the back door and shoot up the lower floor. Two thugs from outside and one from upstairs should come running in/down. Kill them all and blow up the safe. Then take over the racket. Chateau Toledo Location: 42nd Street and 2nd Avenue Controlling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Firearms Min Payout: $600 Max Payout: $2,400 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $750 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $3,000 Net Value: $$ Directions: Go to Chateau Toledo. Walk in and strangle the thug at the foot of the stairs. Then go through the door into the main bar area and convince the host to let you in. Walk through the double doors and strangle the Barzini thug in the right part of the room. Then take over the business. Now go upstairs, hide behind the wall, and shoot the three thugs here. Take over the racket. Now move downstairs and kill the thug that ran into here from outside. Finally, go through the back door that was unlocked during your main extortion (first floor). Hawk's Steakhouse Location: Broadway, South of 33rd Street Controlling Family: Cuneo Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening Innocents Min Payout: $600 Max Payout: $2,400 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $750 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $3,000 Net Value: $$ Directions: Go to Hawk's Steakhouse. When you get there quickly shoot the two thugs in the alley. Then kill the two to the right of the steakhouse. Now kill the two across the street and to the left. When all that's done take over the place. A thug from upstairs should come running down. Kill him. If he doesn't come down go upstairs and kill the two there. Then take over the racket and blow up the safe. The Carnegie Club Location: 58th Street and 5th Avenue Controlling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening Innocents Min Payout: $600 Max Payout: $2,400 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $750 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $3,000 Net Value: $$ Directions: Go to Chateau Toledo. Walk right in and strangle the guard. Then take over the club. Go upstairs and on the third floor strangle the thug guarding the room. Go through the left door and hide to the right of the big archway. Kill the two thugs here and go up to the fourth floor. Go through the right door here. Quickly run over to one of the couches and kill the thug there. We don't want the racket boss to end up in the crossfire and die. Kill the other thug by popping out and shooting him in the head. Now take over the racket and blow up the safe in the bedroom. Madame Polly's Location: 37th Street and 5th Avenue Controlling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Firearms Min Payout: $600 Max Payout: $2,400 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $750 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $3,000 Net Value: $$ Directions: Go to Madame Polly's. When you get there play a regular shoot-em- up game with the two thugs in the back of the bar. Then hide behind the wall where they were standing. Two thugs (the ones from up front) should come running. Kill them and advance to the wall on the left side of the alley. Kill another thug in front of the bar. Then hide behind either a mailbox/crate or a car and shoot the two thugs across the street. Next go through the front entrance and talk to the host. Then try to go up the stairs to the left and you'll be greeted by a couple of thugs. Kill them all and move on up. There might be another thug up here so be careful. Take over the racket and then go downstairs. Talk to the owner and operator to take over this joint. Then blow the safe in the small room to the left of the entrance. Businesses to Extort: Very Hard (Midtown) Isao Kimota's Barbers Location: 40th Street and 3rd Avenue Controlling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening with Firearms Min Payout: $750 Max Payout: $3,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $940 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $3,750 Net Value: $ Directions: Go to Isao Kimota's Barbers. When you get there kill the thug in the front and then the one in the back. Blow up the safe and take the dough, the dynamite, and any weapon that flies out. Then take over the joint. I can't believe that this place should fall under the "Very Hard" section of all the businesses to extort other than because of its payout. Louis' Restaurant Location: 25th Street and 3rd Avenue Controlling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening Innocents Min Payout: $750 Max Payout: $3,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $940 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $3,750 Net Value: $ Directions: Go to Louis' Restaurant. Only one thug guards this place and he's off to the right of the restaurant. Kill him and inside. Take over the place. There is no safe. Mookie's Location: 37th Street and 4th Avenue Controlling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening Innocents Min Payout: $750 Max Payout: $3,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $940 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $3,750 Net Value: $ Directions: Go to Mookie's. Kill the thug up front and take over the place. Wow that was difficult. The Colonial Club Location: 42nd Street and 6th Avenue Controlling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Firearms Min Payout: $750 Max Payout: $3,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $940 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $3,750 Net Value: $$ Directions: Go to The Colonial Club. Unlike the last place this fancy-shmancy club is heavily guarded. There are two thugs in the front, two near the park across the street, and two to the right near the park. Kill them all and walk in. Quickly kill the thug here and move upstairs. Kill the three thugs guarding the racket boss and take over the racket. Grab the Molotov on the counter and walk downstairs. Talk to the host and go through either one of the double doors. Go immediately to the right and kill the thug here. If you don't he could cause some problems. Now take over the place and when the back door becomes unlocked blow up the safe in the back room. West Side Willy's Location: Columbus Circle Conrolling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Using Firearms Min Payout: $750 Max Payout: $3,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $940 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $3,750 Net Value: $$ Directions: Go to West Side Willy's. Same plan as last time. Kill the lone thug up front and the two across the street. Next come the two to the left of the joint. Walk inside and kill the thug here. Walk upstairs and kill the three thugs guarding the racket boss and take over the racket. Grab the Molotov on the counter and walk downstairs. Talk to the host and go through either one of the double doors. Go immediately to the right and kill the thug here. If you don't he could cause some problems. Now take over the place and when the back door becomes unlocked blow up the safe in the back room. The Peak Location: 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue Controlling Family: Barzini Weakness of the Shopkeeper: Threatening Innocents Min Payout: $750 Max Payout: $3,000 Min Payout w/ W.O.S: $940 Max Payout w/ W.O.S: $3,750 Net Value: $$ Directions: Go to The Peak. Once again (and for the last time) walk right in and take over the hotel. Then go into the stairwell and kill the thug here. Go up the stairs, to the third floor and kill the thug in the waiting room. Hide to the right of the double doors and kill the two thugs in the next room. Walk to the room where the R.B. is located and kill the thug here. Take over the racket and blow up the safe. Be careful when walking out. You might encounter a thug. RACKET TRUCKS By now you won't need to hijack any more racket trucks. The locations of all related businesses should now be familiar to you. BANKS Situated near the Barzini compound, the Midtown Bank is a good second bank to heist, as long as you've secured a safehouse nearby, such as the Carnegie Club. Of course the purchase price is a whopping $125,000. Your main bank to heist should instead be the cash-filled Manhattan Trust. This is an excellent way to make a load of money very quickly, especially as the Chateau Leive is a free safehouse the Corleones gave you earlier. Make this your heist bank of choice in the Midtown area. A good second safehouse to flee to is the Peak, although the room price is an astronomical $150,000. SAFES As always, every venue, including the warehouses and transport hubs, need to be checked for safes, and then the safes must be cracked. Congratulations! You'll crack your 100th safe during your domination of Midtown! CONTRACT HITS The hits just keep on coming! Peter Clemenza's final two contracts, plus all five of Al Neri's, enable you to slaughter the cream of the underworld's hoodlums. You should have a safehouse near every hit, so make a quick save after each. BRIBING THE POLICE If you need to lose some heat, check with the chief at the Midtown Precinct Police Station. Head to this police station to or from your nearest safehouse, the Peak. WAREHOUSES AND TRANSPORT HUBS None! You captured them all in the last Free Roam! RIVAL FAMILY COMPOUNDS This is it! The best-defended and most-difficult compound to bomb (Barzini Compound) is located well away from the action in the northeast part of Midtown. Tool up with an upgraded weapon, extra health points to award yourself during the assault, and one bomb. Attack both of the houses, and lay a bomb in the basement of each, picking up a second bomb from the Barzini's stash. Once this is done, you become a Don, as long as all other Family compounds are yours. WEAPON PURCHASES AND UPGRADES You must have purchased all weapon upgrades, including Level 1, 2, and 3, versions, by the end of your freelancing. SAFEHOUSES If you are determined to buy up all the real estate that's for sale, you should purchase every safehouse in Midtown. Note that Chateau Leive was given to you earlier. As you extort businesses in different part of each territory, buy the safehouse nearest your next set of shops and return to it after each shakedown. MOBFACE CLOTHING Complete your collection of natty threads by purchasing all the remaining clothing you can. FBI AGENTS The FBI Agent on the north side of Grand Central Station is the only available government official to bribe, so be sure you've planned out a route to meet him as your vendetta against the Barzinis rises STOLEN SHIPMENTS There are no stolen shipments in Midtown. FAMILY FIGHTS AND EXECUTIONS The Family fight occurs in Bryant Park, between 40th and 42nd Streets, on Sixth Avenue, south of the fountain, and near a black market merchant selling a shot- gun. Meet the merchant during the day to lessen the chances of stepping into this fracas...unless you're anxious to slay more mobsters. Look out for an execution near Raphael's flower shop too. AMBUSHES There are four ambush areas in Midtown, and as always, each is near a black market merchant. Head to purchase goods from the during the day to minimize your ambush chances. Fight Club Locations [FIGHT] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here come the locations! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.1 Little Italy [LILIT] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Molsenni's Location: Prince Street and Bowery Controlling Family: Corleone Net Value: $ Background: This is a home away from home for many Corleones living in Little Italy. Molsenni's establishment is a great place to go to see a friendly Corleone face, and many a police chase has ended with a perp hiding in the upstairs bar. If you're too far from a safehouse and need some help, try knocking on Tiger's door. Fight: Basically just target him and keep hitting him with light attacks. This method is lengthy but it will save you tons of health in the long run. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.2 Brooklyn [BROOK] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pitkin Garments Location: Washington Street and Front Street Controlling Family: Tattaglia Net Value: $ Background: Joel Peter Pitkin does most of his tailoring work for the Tattaglias, who certainly couldn't be described as the most elegant of guys. Of course, a change of ownership might be the best thing for him. He can then cater to a more discerning clientele. Fight: Once again just pummel the crap out of this guy to win. Use strong attacks in the beginnning and light attacks when his health is low. Again, if your fighting level is high this should be no problem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.3 New Jersey [NJERS] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Highway Hotel Location: Observer Highway and Newark Street Controlling Family: Stracci Net Value: $ Background: Highway robbery is the name of the game at the Highway Hotel, as New Jersey native Al Belligio deals from a crooked deck. You'd be much better staying out of these sleazy Stracci joints and finding a better spot to get a place to sleep, but rooms are hard to come by in New Jersey and you might have need of this place. Fight: This bruiser is not any different. Whack him until he coughs up the dough. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.4 Hell's Kitchen [HELLS] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stromboli Supplies Location: Galvin Street and 11th Avenue Controlling Family: Corleone Net Value: $ Background: This venue used to deal in circus supplies and was constantly receiving deliveries from the nearby rail yards. It is well placed to investigate the secret wheelings and dealings with black market sellers nearby. One of the senior members of the Family - Sonny Corleone - has been known to drop by here from time to time; it's a quiet place to extract infromation (and other, less savory material) from a foe who won't talk. Fight: This bruiser is exactly the same as all the other ones. Just make sure your fighting level is high and you'll beat him easy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.5 Midtown [MIDTO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Corcoran's Perch Location: 23rd Street and 4th Avenue Controlling Family: Corleone Net Value: $$ Background: Buddy, the owner and barman, is reputed to be related to famous gangsters, and he's a devoted Corleone associate through and through. Friends of the Family are always welcome here, and in fact, many appear on their way to and from business in Midtown. Fight: This is the last one and surely enough this one's....the same! Sorry to dissapoint you guys but he's no different from the others. Once again have your fighting level HIGH (5-10) to challenge this bruiser. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8. Secrets and Unlocks [SE&UN] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SECRETS This section contains CHEATS which some of you might not want to read. Note: These cheats cannot be used over and over. After you put in one cheat you have to wait 2-3 minutes before you can use that cheat again. Note*: To put in these cheats simply go to the pause menu then type them in. You DO NOT have to press ENTER/RETURN to activate the cheat, and one cheat, for $5,000 will not work once you have over $1,000,000 in cash.
