Suspended FAQ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx FAQ TITLE: The Optimized Straightforward Walkthru for Suspended COPYRIGHT INFO: This FAQ is copyright 2009 by Stanley E. Dunigan (dunigase@wmconnect.com). This FAQ may be posted and used anywhere by anyone as long as it's unaltered, but always check one of the official websites listed below for the latest version. GameFAQs (www.gamefaqs.com) SuperCheats (www.supercheats.com) Neoseeker (www.neoseeker.com) FAQ DESCRIPTION: Like all of my optimized straightforward walkthrus, this FAQ is a complete walkthru for the game that has been optimized and organized to make it as fast and easy as possible to complete the game. I don't give any reference-style information, like a list of all robot capabilities, or encourage you to do unnecessary things. In true walkthru fashion, I just tell you the answers without explaining or rationalizing them. VERSION 1.0 (4/24/2009) NOTES AND CREDITS: This is the original release of this FAQ, so I have no special notes or credits to report yet. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx NOTE: This FAQ was written while playing the Suspended version that came with the Lost Treasures of Infocom package that was released in 1991 by Activision. As far as I know, everything will be the same for other game versions. *** STEP 1: Minimize casualties on the surface. *** The first thing to note is that this walkthru assumes you're playing on the default difficulty setting, rather than an advanced or customized one. As in most of my optimized straightforward walkthrus, the straightforwardness is the most important thing, with optimization coming second. To win the game on a harder setting, you may have to optimize your moves more. (See Anonymous' walkthru on GameFAQs for an optimized move list.) Send Poet to the Weather Control Area (POET, GO TO WEATHER CONTROL), then use the WAIT command until he gets there. Have him set Tower 2's pressure all the way up by turning its dial to 100 (TURN SECOND DIAL TO 100). Next, send him to the Hydroponics Control Area (GO TO HYDROPONICS CONTROL). Wait once for him to get there, then tell him to set the water level to 90 (SET FIRST LEVER TO 90), the mineral level to 45 (SET SECOND LEVER TO 45), and the lighting level to 70 (SET THIRD LEVER TO 70). Once that's done, have him go over to the Transit Control Area (GO TO TRANSIT CONTROL). Wait for him to arrive, then tell him to flip all three transit control switches to shut traffic down entirely (FLIP FIRST SWITCH. FLIP SECOND SWITCH. FLIP THIRD SWITCH). That will get things set up to minimize the number of casualties on the surface of the planet. Type SCORE to see that there were 8,000 casualties so far, which is the minimum on the standard game. *** STEP 2: Repair Iris' vision. *** Tell Waldo to go to the Middle Supply Room (WALDO, GO TO MIDDLE SUPPLY). After he gets there, have him pick up the grasping extension and install it (GET EXTENSION. WEAR EXTENSION), then have him pick up the rough object. Send him north and east to find Iris, then have him open Iris' maintenance panel (OPEN PANEL) and replace the malfunctioning rough device with the rough object (REPLACE ROUGH DEVICE WITH ROUGH OBJECT). Close the panel, and Iris will be able to see again. *** STEP 3: Repair the Main Supply Room's machine. *** Have Iris go west to the Main Supply Room (IRIS, W), then have her take the burned and fried chips from the machine's sockets (GET BURNED AND FRIED CHIPS). Have her drop them and go south, then get her to pick up the red and yellow ICs (GET RED AND YELLOW IC). Have her go north and install the red and yellow ICs into the machine (PUT RED IC IN RED SOCKET. PUT YELLOW IC IN YELLOW SOCKET), then have her press the orange button. That'll open up the machine's front panel, showing that it's now operational. *** STEP 4: Get the orange and red cables. *** The orange cable is in the front panel of the machine you just had Iris fix. To get it safely, you'll have to remove the machine's fuse first (GET FUSE). Get the orange cable, then put the fuse back into the machine so it'll work when you need it to later on (PUT FUSE IN MACHINE). The red cable will be quite a bit more trouble. Tell Sensa to go to the Gamma Repair room, then tell Waldo to go south. Have him get the wedge, then send him to the Hallway Junction. Wait until he arrives, then have him use the wedge to get to the Sloping Corridor (PUT WEDGE AGAINST STEP. N). Have him get the wedge again, then send him to the Small Supply Room. Sensa will have reached Gamma Repair by then, so have her examine the cage that's there (SENSA, EXAMINE CAGE). She senses a flowswitch, so get her to flip it (FLIP FLOWSWITCH). Now wait until Waldo gets where he's going. When he does, have him drop the wedge. He can then use it to help him reach the cutting tool (STAND ON WEDGE. GET CUTTING TOOL). Have him pick up the wedge again, then get him back to the Sloping Corridor. Have him put the wedge back against the step, then send him to Gamma Repair. Send Poet to the Hallway End area so he'll be in place for step 6, then wait until Waldo finishes traveling. When he does, have him work with Sensa to move the junky old robot out of the open cage (BOTH WALDO AND SENSA, MOVE FRED). Now you can get Waldo to cut the robot's red cable with the cutting tool (CUT CABLE WITH TOOL). Have him take the cable and go to where Iris is (GO TO IRIS). *** STEP 5: Get the acid leak turned off. *** Tell Auda to go to the Sleep Chamber. When she arrives, have her turn her auditory circuits on (LISTEN). Wait until she hears the sound of metal being placed on the floor, then tell her to get the intruders' tool bag (GET BAG). Have her go south twice and east, then wait until she hears a wheel turning. That means the acid spray has been turned off. *** STEP 6: Get a video camera to the Primary Channel. *** Poet has reached his destination by now, so have him enter the nearby vehicle (POET, ENTER CAR). It'll automatically take him across to the Vehicle Debarkation Area, so have him exit the car (GET OUT) and go north and west. Have him take the camera, then go back east and south. Get him to enter and exit the car again in order to return to the Hallway End area, then tell him to go to the Primary Channel. Don't wait for him to get there, but instead go straight to step 7. *** STEP 7: Fix the FC area cables. *** Waldo has reached Iris by now, so have him get the orange cable from her (WALDO, GET CABLE FROM IRIS), then send him to the Primary Channel area. When he gets there, have him replace the faulty four-inch cable with the twelve-inch red cable (REPLACE FOUR-INCH CABLE WITH TWELVE-INCH CABLE). Have him go south twice to reach the Secondary Channel area, then get him to replace its faulty nine-inch cable with the orange fourteen-inch cable (REPLACE NINE-INCH CABLE WITH FOURTEEN-INCH CABLE). You should get an FC interrupt about entering reset codes. *** STEP 8: Enter the FC reset code. *** Poet will have reached the Primary Channel, so have him plug the camera into its plug-in (POET, PLUG CAMERA INTO HOLE), then point it at the nearby sign so Iris can read it (POINT CAMERA AT SIGN). That'll get you a six-letter reset code that Iris needs to enter on the Main Supply Room's machine via the buttons on its front panel. The code is randomly chosen, so I can't tell you which two buttons you need to press. To figure it out, divide the code into two three-letter halves, then check the list of code halves below to see which circles you'll need Iris to press. BAR - fourth circle BLE - third circle BOZ - seventh circle CON - sixth circle FOO - first circle KLA - fifth circle MUM - second circle TRA - eighth circle For example, if the code was BOZKLA, that would break up into the code halves of BOZ and KLA. Looking those up, you'll see that Iris needs to press the seventh circle (IRIS, PRESS SEVENTH CIRCLE) and then the fifth circle (PRESS FIFTH CIRCLE). Once you get the correct two circles pressed, you'll win the game.
