IDX11 +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | How to play this game on modern machines | IDX00 | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Space Quest is written on a machine that is almost ancient, and a system that is not (completely) supported by Windows and other modern OSes. Therefore you're gonna need a emulator for old systems. When I wrote this FAQ I used DosBox 0.72 (MacOS X PPC version). DosBox can be downloaded from http://www.dosbox.com +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Space Quest XII - Vohaul's revenge II | IDX01 | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ What a joke. You are thrown into the future, and thus this is no longer Space Quest IV but Space Quest XII. First of all, there's a zombie wandering the streets here. Don't allow it to touch you, or you'll be dead. Having said that, let's start to play this bizarre episode of the Space Quest series. - Exit west - = Examine the vehicle = Open the glovebox = Get the laptop = Exit east twice - = Pick up the rope in the corner = Exit north - Exit north - = Stand behind a pillar = Use the rope on the floor and wait for the toy rabbit to step in it. = Pull in the rope when the rabbit is in. = Look at your inventory and look at the rabbit to turn it around = Remove the battery from its back = Exit west (Twice) - Exit south - = Click with the hand icon on the tank = Get the tank of nitrogycerine = Put it back (Seems pretty senseless, but it gets you extra points) = Exit east (Twice) - Open the grating and go down in there - = Pick up the jar = Pick up the placement and push the button below = You see a recording. Hear that recording out = After that open the door to the west and exit west - Go south and exit south (some acid will be released and go after you) - = Stand in a sideway = From there use your jar to scoop up some of the acid = Exit west (Twice) - Climb the ladder - You'll see a shuttle land. Go to it and enter it. You'll fly to Vohaul's base. - Exit west - Click with the hand icon on the time pod that just appeared. - Now you get the copyprotection (unless you got the CD-ROM version) After you're pas that, take a piece of paper and a biro and write down the code of the time pod display, without that code you cannot finish the game, and it's diffrent each playthrough so I cannot note it in my FAQ. Once you noted the code down (make a savegame of this spot to make sure you got some referrence), press all buttons of the top row from left to right, and the most left one on the middle row. You'll end up in Space Quest III. Don't exit here, you'll die, but this way you are safe against Vohaul's guards. Now try some codes at random until you end up in Space Quest X +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Space Quest X - Latex Babes of Estros | IDX02 | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ - Leave the time pod - Exit west - Exit south - You'll see the shadow of a beautiful girl sneaking away. Exit north - = Stand in the shadow of the rock to see a beat flying over = Exit east - Exit south - You'll be caught by the beast and be dropped in a big nest - = Wait until you see a guard of Vohaul's fall down = Seach him to find a piece of paper = Go south-east to exit this nest - Ah, now you get why this episode is called "Latex Babes". Some hotties will surround and threathen you. Enter their sub like they ordered you to (You'll be dead if you don't obey). - Well, after the girls decided how to torture you, a horrible beast will come and spoil their party. Wait until the chair you're in releases you, and press the button on the right of the chair to hurt the beast's tentacles, then take one of the laser guns as quickly as you can and shoot into the beast's mouth. (This requires being very fast). After this you'll be a hero, and this needs to be celebrated, and what is more chilch for women to do that shopping. So you'll be moved to the shopping mall. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Space Quest X - Latex Babes of Estros (Mall) | IDX03 | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Well, I hope you like shopping, because this will be the place where you will spend most part of the game. - = Pick up Zondra's Credit card (she drops it upon arrival) = Exit east - = Stay on the conveyor until you reach a gentlemen't clothes shop (an alien that is too large will leave it) = Enter the shop - = Talk to the droid and buy a new set of pants = Pay for the pants and leave = Next stop: Monolith Burger - = Talk to the manager = Talk to him again, and accept the job he offers (Now choose if you want to take on the arcade part. Whether you do or not you'll end up fired, but with some more cash at your disposal). (You must at least have 65 Buckazoids now) - Once you're fired, exit east and keep standing until the end of the conveyor - = Get the cigar = Exit west - Enter the first shop (a ladies clothes shop) - Exit east - Enter the software shop - = Examine the bin to the left = Move all games aside and pick up the Space Quest IV hint book = Pay the clerk = Leave - = Try Zondra's ATM card on the money machine (due to the face scanner it will fail) = Go to the lady clothes shop - = Talk to the droid to buy women's clothes. = Pay for the clothes = Leave - Go to the software shop - = Use Zondra's card on the money machine = Choose "Clean House" to get 2001 buckazoids = Next stop Radio Shock - = Go to the catalog = Choose for the gadgets = Try here to buy a plug The one you need looks like this ____________ / __ ___ ] __ |___| [ ____________/ To me it was the one in the top right. Next stop stacks - = Go to the changing room where you can get your own clothes back = Leave - Now is a good time to save your game, as things are gonna get dangerous now. Go to the Arcade hall - Upon arrival, Vohaul's guards will enter the room. Leave here quickly. - Go as quickly as you can into the Skate O Rama - Swim your way up, until the guards follow you. They'll try to shoot you but lose their balance in the process. Go down, into the arcade hall and make your escape in the time pod. - If you followed this FAQ you don't need to be here any more, but if you are not sure, write down the code from the display. After that press all buttons of the top row (from left to right) and the first one on the middle row to get into Space Quest III (Don't leave the pod) Now you are safe (as long as you don't leave the pod), now the next stop is Space Quest I. Wrap open the piece of paper you stole from the dying guard to find the last part of the code you need. Open the hint book and decode the last answer of the question "I'm in the stupid Time Pod. Where else can I go?" It will reveal the first part of the code. Now you got the code. Enter it to go to Space Quest I. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Space Quest I - The Sarien Encounter | IDX04 | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ - Leave the pod - Exit south - Enter the bar - Try to get the matchbox on the bar and you'll be kicked out by the bullies. - Okay, time to start trouble. = Kick the motorcycles Now you must know that you are no longer safe here. The bullies may pop up at ANY area now and try to kill you. Best set your game speed low, when they come (you'll hear the music announcing their arrival), wait until they are close and jump aside. - Go to the bar and enter - Get the matchbox and leave - Get into your time pod and go back to Space Quest XII (You did write down that code didn't you. If you didn't... Start a new game). +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Space Quest XII - Vohaul's revenge II | IDX05 | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ - Leave the pod - Good, Vohaul's guards are gone now. Exit east twice Okay before we go on... Yo need the next times = A jar of acid (Space Quest XII) = A cigar (Space Quest X) = A matchbox (Space Quest I) = A laptop (Space Quest XII) = A plug (Space Quest X) If you missed any of those, you can still go back to get them. - = Use the acid to destroy the lock = Open the door and enter - = Use the lighter to light the cigar, this will make the invisible lasers visible. = Now look at the computer You need some numbers here that those will turn the lasers, when all lasers are straight vertical the way is good. = Leave the room north - = Stay where you are and a robot will come. Wait until it's gone (if it still kills you exit south on the moment it passes by and come back. That should the trick, when it comes after you load a savegame as you cannot escape it then any more). = Exit west - Exit west (ignore any droids that may appear. They canno reach you from here). - = Use the console on the door = Enter the code: 6965847669 (You could see that in the hint book) = Step in the chamber - You need to erase two items. The robots and your brain. (Yes, you must erase your brain, otherwise the ending fight won't take place). (If you are in a funny mood you can erase space quest 4, that will end the game immediately). Now a timer will start. When the timer runs out you are dead. Anyway, exit east - Exit east - Exit north - Exit west - First exit south - Exit west - = Step in the collum west (it's a teleporter that beams you upstairs) = Exit north - Exit East - Exit North - Now you'll meet your son, but Vohaul has taken possesion of his body. = Fight him until he gets back in the beam, unable to fight back. = Go down the ladder to get the diskette = Insert the disk in the console - = Upload Vohaul's soul back onto the disk = Download Roger Jr. soul back into his body. Now you have a chat with your son and you get to see who your wife will be. After that chat the game is over and you won. CONGRATUATIONS! YOU'VE COMPLETED SPACE QUEST IV (or was it XII, X, I, III... Oh whatever). +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Time Machine Codes | IDXZY | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Here you got an overview of the time machine codes. Space Quest I - The Sarien Encounter This code can be obtained in two. One is in the hint book that you can buy at the game store in SQ10 The other can be obtained from Vohaul's guard when he falls dead in the bird nest (SQ10). Space Quest III - The pirates of Pestulon You don't need to go here, but it's a nice spot to escape to to make sure Vohaul's guards can't find you. Don't leave the time machine here though as it means death. To get there, type all keys of the top row from left to right and the first one on the middle row Space Quest X - Latex Babes of Estros This code is random. Just try out some and eventually you'll get there. Space Quest X - Latex Babes of Estros - Great Shopping Mall Copy this code from the display when you find the time pod in this area. Space Quest XII - Vohaul's revenge II Copy this code from the display when you find the time pod in this area. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Item List | IDXZZ | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ MONEY Get: Start of the game - Space Quest IV Do: Buy things with it ROPE GET: On the floor in the ruined city - Space Quest XII Do: Catch the rabbit (SQ12) RABBIT Get: Catch it with the rope - Space Quest XII Do: Remove the battery from it BATTERY Get: Remove from the rabbit Do: Power up the terminal CAN OF NITROGLYCERINE Get: In tank - Space Quest XII Do: Put it back or die ATM CARD Get: Zondra Drops it upon arrival in the mall Do: Get yourself enough money for a computer part CIGAR Get: The manager of Monolith burger drops it after he fires you Do: Make the lasers visible in Space Quest XII SPACE QUEST IV HIT BOOK Get: Can be bought in the software store in Space Quest X Do: Hint to get in Space Quest I DECODER PEN Get: Along with the hint book - Space Quest X Do: Decode answers in hint book JAR Get: In hidden room Space Quest XII Do: Fill with acid JAR OF ACID Get: Fill the jar with acid in the sewers - Space Quest XII Do: Melt a lock in Vohaul's hideout PLUG Get: Buy at Radio Shock - Space Quest X Do: Use in the laptop LAPTOP Get: In glovebox in vehicle destroyed city - Space Quest XII Do: Needed in Vohaul's labyrinth MATCHBOX Get: On the bar in Space Quet I Do: Light the cigar +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Copyrights and permissions | IDX10 | +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ This FAQ has been copyrighted by Jeroen Broks aka Tricky, formely known as Tricrokra. This also goes for alternate boss techniques. AND NEVER FORGET TO TELL ME WHICH FAQ OF MINE YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT! I get a lot of mails in which I must guess which FAQ it is we're talking about, and since I'm very busy as a contributor for GameFAQs, and ocasionally other sites, I have quite a lot of FAQs here. So it will help me a lot when I know which FAQ/Game it is you're talking about. :) And one last thing. Below are remarks I got a lot about my FAQs. Some are funny, and some are just plainly too stupid for words. I don't want to be an arrogant bastard or anything, but some of them tire me a lot. So here are those mails with my standard replies: M: Fix your English A: Some people say they hardly hear the diffrence between me and an English speaking fellow. Others say it sucks. Well, I honestly don't care in which category you are. English is NOT my first language. If I spoke my own language you probably couldn't read my FAQs at all. M: HEY IDIOT! FIX YOUR FAQ! A: Anyone who sends mail like this won't receive a reply. In fact they will be banned from ever mailing me again. I can understand you do not agree with my technique. There are as many as there are people. I can also agree you detected that I made a mistake. Well, I'm human you know. Making mistakes is part of my nature, as much as it's yours. If you detect errors in my FAQ you can tell me about it in a civil way, and I'll fix it if I agree with you. M: Are you a man? A woman? How old are you? Where do you live? A: I really got that kind of mails a lot. I don't mind that you know. I was quite amused by such mails actually. Well, my name is Jeroen Broks. I'm not going to give my private adres in this FAQ or anywhere else on the internet, but you may know that I live in the Netherlands, I am a man, and I was born in 1975. So on the moment I started on this version of this FAQ I was 33 years old. M: Fsdasdadasf afsdfasd afdfsaf A: Whatever you say I don't understand it. If you mail me, please only do so in either English or Dutch or if you really need in German. (Be perpared that if you speak German to me, you might get an answer in English, tough). I don't speak any other language. M: May I translate your FAQ into another language? A: If you ask my permission, mostly no problem M: Why is Neoseeker banned from hosting your FAQs? A: That's something between me and Neoseeker. I don't find it necesary to go into detail about that. I noted it in my FAQs to make sure they will never pop up there unnoticed. So don't mail me about it cause I won't answer. I got very good reasons for it. That's all you need to know. And so far this FAQ. I hope you have good use for it!
