I. INTRODUCTION
Welcome to my Pia Carrot e Youkoso FAQ for the Sega Saturn. This was
the first game faqs I ever wrote, back in 1998, so I figured it deserved
an update, to reflect my improving style of writing. The old FAQ had
to much fluff, my own rantings and other unnecessary information. I
will update this FAQ again when I feel there is a need to do so.
II. WHAT IS THIS GAME?
Pia Carrot e Youkoso is a dating simulation originally created by
Cocktail Soft. It's also available for Japanese Windows 95, Japanese PC
98, & NEC PC-FX. The Sega Saturn version was released by Kindle
Imagine Develop (KID) on March 12, 1998. The original release came with
a Limited Edition Print Seal Trading Card. The second release came with
different packaging and a new sticker card. There are a few differences
between the PC version/PC-FX version and the Saturn version. I have all
three versions but no PC-FX to play it on. The PC version has fully
erotic pictures, where the hero is in the compromising positions, with
no voice acting and a midi soudntrack. The PC-FX version from what I
heard, has voice acting, and some cool FMV sequences...(Now if I only
had a PC-FX...) The Saturn version has fully edited pictures, different
voice actresses, a new soundtrack, and has an extra character, Airi.
This FAQ is based on the SATURN version. Pia Carrot spawned a sequel
also available on the Saturn and Japanese Windows 95 and even an OVA
series from Pink Pineapple. The OVA is based on the Satomi ending... If
you want to know more about it, visit my website.
Pia Carrot e Youkoso is a Japanese import, so you need a converter to
play it. Pia Carrot is considered an adult game, there are warnings on
the cover, however, the game is like 10% hentai, and there is no nudity
at all. The most provocative shots are pictures of the girls in
lingerie. Most of the stuff looks more artistic than erotic, and sexual
acts are only implied not visualized. The incredible story lines and
breath taking moments are what makes this game memorable, the hentai is
just an added touch ;)
III. BRIEF BACKGROUND STORY
You play yourself, if you choose the default name it is Yusuke
Kinoshita, a young 18-year-old just finished with High School. You plan
on spending your last summer with your best friend Daisuke-kun.
However, previously you made a bet with your father, concerning your
grades. Your test marks are not desirable, and you lose the bet,
therefore you must live up to your promise and work at daddy's
restaurant, the Pia Carrot.
What seems like what's going to be a lame summer of slave labor,
becomes the greatest and most memorable summer of your life. What
makes things interesting are all the cute girls who work at the Pia
Carrot, and those who dine there.
You already know Shouko(Shoko)-chan, a childhood friend of yours and
Satomi-chan, a classmate and the girl you have a crush on already, will
be working with you. Yet, as the summer goes by the interaction
with other girls is intense and you must choose who you want. There
are a total of nine girls Satomi, Shouko, Reika, Yukiko,(Saori)
Sayori, Airi, Shiho, Kiyomi, and Yukari, to court after.
Some will be easy to win over, others will require much sacrifices,
patience, gentleness, perseverance, and chivalry. Your goal is to to
fall in love with a girl by the end of the summer, feelings must be
mutual, and have her meet you in the park August 28th after you call
her.
IV. GAMEPLAY
You control the daily activities of yourself. The basic day is divided
into three parts, the AM, the Afternoon, and After work. During the AM
you can call someone, use an item, or move to an area. During the
afternoon at 1 PM you start work, at 5 PM you get a break till 6 PM.
After work, 9 PM, you have meetings, choose your job for the following
week, and can talk to someone.
There are various interactions and possible outcomes depending on where
you go, where you work, what you do, whom you call, etc that make this
game's replay value phenomenal. On your off day there can be more
options available. Generally you can only save before you go to bed,
and after you wake up. After viewing a scene you can view it again at
the special options menu, same with the FMV movies. To clear all of
the scenes you must beat the game with the three different uniforms

The Cash card has money in it after your father tells you you got 50000
yen
The Fashion Mag can be bought by going to the Train station +1 style
The Can Can books can be found at the comic show
The Waiter game can be found after your first set of dates with either
Shouko or Reika.
The Rabbit game can be found by calling Daisuke 8/9 AM
You eventually get the schedule and Saori's item when the time is right.
NOTE: if you haven't met a girl yet, her name will not appear on the
profiles and call list. For some characters you must get their phone
number before you can call. The places to move and items will be the
same. If an event is not ready, you cannot go there, or if you do not
have the item it will not appear. The unused and missing spaces are
blank if you haven't achieved them on your list, just count spaces if
you have a problem.
Special Menu
The special menu option shows the picture memories that you have
encountered. If it's blank, you must keep looking. Basically if the
picture is a uniform picture, you have to go through the game three
times to achieve each different uniform. Omake pictures are available
if you attain the 2 Can Can Bunny books and Airi Fan book and view them
during the game. They can be picked up at the comic show, and talking
to Daisuke-kun a lot.
There are eight bonus pictures that can be found by scoring high on the
Rabbit game. 5K, 10k, 20K and 30K, it seems impossible to reach
30K. Try to collect only carrots, that way a flood of carrots will
rain down upon you. When there is 15 seconds left if you jump to the
top there is a door bell which makes you immune to bombs. At 5k it is a
Big Satomi Picture, 10K 3 girl picture, 20K same pic as 3 girl but in
bathing suits, 30K..??? The Movie Gallery becomes available after you
achieve the FMV sequences.

The status meter measures your character, from top to bottom they are

Status Meter Minimum Requirements
During the game you accumulate so many points that you really don't have
to worry about it. Just watch your energy and bad decision point If your
energy becomes zero you ditch work for the day and gain 2 notorious
points.
Here are the minimum status meter requirements for each char, Energy
excluded. Same order as the top the final number is notoriety one and it
has to be less than or equal to, all others are greater than or equal
to.

X. INDIVIDUAL ADVANCED TIPS & IMPORTANT CALENDAR DATES
This game can be a real bummer if you lose, by default you end up
buying your little sister birthday gifts if you are not charming enough
to woo one of the ladies. Next to their name is my personal opinion on
the difficulty in having her fall in love with you, and next to that is
my own personal review of the story, same as the movie system from 1 -
4 stars. Between the important key dates you should follow the basic
tips listed. The important calendar dates are mandatory elements for
success.
NOTE: Some dates are slightly different
FMV means when the character's beautiful animation sequence will run.
Yukari doesn't have one. Yatta!, means a gentle moment I don't want
to ruin the excellent stories so I will be as brief as possible.

XIII. GETTING STARTED & SAMPLE WALKTHROUGH
For those of you who need help getting started here is a step by step
sample walkthrough which will lead you to a first date with Reika. X
means anything you want. 1, 2, or 3 means choice 1-3, when needed to
make a response. I haven't played Pia in ages, and I lost most of my
notes when my Hard Drive crashed, but I would be willing to romanize the
correct answers if they are in demand, hq9@hotmail.com.
Pop in your disk, Press start etc.
Input your name English is the second one on the left, hiragana is on
the top left, katakana top right, and kanji bottom right. Remember,
Japanese use last name first, so input your family name first, then
your first name.
Next pick a color of the uniform you like best, I think Satomi looks
the cutest in the pink one ;). Next choose to start either on 7/25 or
do the full intro. Doing the intro gives you the background story and
a few pictures of Shouko and Satomi.
