may gather T-Eng, from killing Akrid, or blowing up vehicles, vital suits and
fuel tanks.

Q. What are Target Marks?
A. Target Marks are bonus items to find in each mission, and unlock a secret
achievement. Each target mark is a letter which will spell out a word.

Q. What is a VS.

A. A VS is a Vital Suit. Vital Suits are the "Mech"-like vehicles original used
for colonization of E.D.N. III, and operated as war machines through the games
story and multiplayer. Some weapon mounts may be detached from a VS and operated
as individual use. *Note such use will slow down mobility and you will be unable
to switch weapons until you ditch the VS mount.

Q. What are hidden objects and how do I get them?

A. Most maps will have some hidden weapons lying around. Some are only partially
hidden. However to get them out, get to the object, and hit B repeatedly to
uncover it.

Q. What is a Data Post?

A. A Data Post is mostly a battlefield information center. By activating a Data
Post you can replenish T-Eng, and a yellow beam will point you in your
destination. The Data Post also shows more of the map on the PDA.

Q. How do I "fix" the crosshair into a "locked" position?

A. There are 2 ways to fix the crosshair. In the Main Menu select "Options">Game
Settings>Aiming> and select "Fixed"

Or in a game hit the "Back" button Settings> Aiming>Fixed.

Q. I killed the Giant Worm (Undeep)/ or Giant Moth (Windega), and still did not
get the achievement, why?

A. After killing either of these Akrid in a level, you must fully complete the
level to receive the achievement.

Characters

Wayne Holden
Found frozen in the planets icy surface by a rouge squad of Snow Pirates,
trapped within his own Vital Suit; Wayne Holden has little to no memory. The few
things he does remember will help save him, set him on a quest for vengeance,
and lost in the mystery of his own past as he struggles to uncover the secrets
of the NEVEC Corp.

Bandero

A head of NEVEC's Military, Bandero makes his living by killing Snow Pirates. A
murderous brute, Bandero will execute the Frontier Plan no matter what. But this
devilish fiend has more tricks up his sleeve then meets the eye, and more in
common with Wayne than is comfortable.

Basil
An amazing VS pilot, creator of the Firecracker and shrouded in mystery. She is
a lone Snow Pirate, hunting down Solotov for what she claims is revenge on her
family.

Dennis Isenberg

NEVEC leader who helms the settlement designs of the planet and created the
Frontier Plan.

Gale Holden

Wayne Holden's father. Gale is killed off rather quickly by the Akrid creature
known as "Green Eye". Before dying Gale strapped the Harmonizer to Wayne's arm,
to give Wayne a chance to live. And more.

Joe

A worker for NEVEC Corp. Captured by Wayne and Basil on the Frontier Plan
research facility Joe is pulled into mystery himself as he tries to figure out
what NEVEC was hiding from him, and why the rouge snow pirates are interested in
the Frontier Plan.

Luka
Leader of the rouge Snow Pirates, Luka is caught between two battles. The first
is killing each and every Akrid alive, and eradicating their nest so they can
finally rest on a planet they can call home. The second. More Snow Pirates! With
Rick and Yuri, Luka has fought these two battles long and hard, at difficult
costs. Wayne Holden's help, and trust is now a curtail step to completing her
goals.
Rick

Luka's headstrong brother and key technician to the squad. Rick is a bit overly
protective of his older sister, but the concern is his most defining trait.

Dr. Yuri

Hello doctor. Yuri is an amazing scientist. A master of medical and engineering
skill. He revives Wayne Holden from the cryogenic prism of his VS. That he was
able to do this so well (excluding Wayne's amnesia), is stunning. That he was
able to activate Wayne's Harmonizer to redirect T-Eng, directly into Wayne's
body is unexplainable.

Weapons

Energy Gun

No ammo? Perfect. The Energy gun has unlimited rounds. It's rate of fire is a
little low, but the weapon is powerful when used correctly. You can shot off a
round, or you can hold the trigger to charge up the energy and then fire off a
stronger blast. The Energy Gun uses a homing function which will lock onto its
target. Just make sure you are not too far off precision.

Machine Gun

A moderate weapon of choice the machine gun will always help you out until you
find something extremely powerful. It's clip size and storage capacity factored
with fast rate of fire, and range makes capabilities make it perfect for taking
out multiple hostiles before you'll need to reload.

Plasma Gun

One of the best weapons in the game. (IMO). The Plasma Gun fires off more
powerful and effective rounds of energy than the Energy Gun. Like the Rifle, the
Plasma Gun even has a zoom function, making it capable of sniping people at even
further distances. Don't let the Plasma Gun's long range capabilities mislead
you though, this weapon is made to function at a close range distance as well.
The only downside to shooting close range is the gun's slow rate of fire. I'd
compare it best to the shotgun in this aspect, so don't treat it like a Machine
Gun unless you can be accurate. And the best part? Unlimited ammo.

Rifle

The Rifle is your basic sniper. Use up(^) and down(v) on the D-pad to operate
the scopes zoom. The Rifle is ideal for long range kills. Effective on low class
Akrid, but highly effective even at extreme distances on Snow Pirates. Often 1
shot will get the job done, however some beasties will require 2 hits and the
Rifle has a slow rate of fire; so keep your eye on the target until it's down.

Rocket Launcher

Another familiar style weapon this is your boom-pointer. Simply point and. boom.
The Rocket Launcher is of course a very powerful weapon. Causing massive damage
on direct hits. The splash damage is not as powerful as some gamers may be
familiar with in other games, but effective to any end. The Rocket Launcher is a
perfect weapon for quickly removing emplacements, and VS's. If you see one you
may want to grab it before you continue, there will surely be need of it soon
off.

Shotgun

As is the case with about any shotgun, this weapon has limited range, and a slow
rate of fire. However the gun is very powerful close up, and has an expanding
firing range. Accuracy isn't as important with this gun, allowing it to take out
multiple hostiles with one shot. Still the shotgun is a weapon best used in
closer combat for optimal effects.

Disk Grenade

A very accurate grenade, this devices will lodge/stick to whatever it's thrown
at. However there is a 10 second detonation time, but if patience is not a
virtue you can always blast it with the machine gun for a faster effect.
Although this sounds great, the explosion is not nearly as strong or packs as
much splash damage as a well placed Hand Grenade.

Dummy Grenade

Fans of PDZ and the film Total Recall should get some enjoyment from this. The
Dummy Grenade will create a dummy beacon. The grenade creates a fake target that
will appear on the enemy's mini-map. Can be used to distract an enemy and ambush
them, or to intimidate them with multiple hostiles.

Gum Grenade

More of a landmine than a grenade, this devices will attaches to a surface, and
explode once an enemy draws close enough to activate it. Works great in close
quarters, structures, or places near VP's.

Hand Grenade

Good for distance kills and grouped enemies. The Hand Grenade bounces when
tossed, so it's not the most accurate grenade. The Hand Grenade also has a 3
second detonation time after tossing it however you can shoot at it (use machine
gun) for an earlier explosion. (while in mid air can have some tactical effects
on Trilid)

Plasma Grenade

A perfect grenade for multiple hostiles or when outgunned by a VP. The Plasma
Grenade will of course take out nearby enemies, but the grenades shockwave and
direct blast will damage VP's as well. In this case it can effectively lock the
VP's and make them un-operable for a few seconds.

Billion Sword

(DBS-000XM)

The largest VS encountered in the game the Billion Sword is NEVEC's greatest
achievement. Although it can take a while to move, its weapons are unmatched.
Based on the Yuri's design, this large scale war machine has a vast array of
attacks, one of which is a transformation ability and all very on a distance of
range. When the Billion Sword transforms it will change to a Floating Javelin
and try to impale you. The two worse attacks its Plasma guns, sweeping both
vertically and horizontally when damaged. And its swords; once the Billion Sword
becomes weak it will spin with two extended plasma swords.

Cakti

(GAB-25M)

Features:

-Drill - RT (Right Trigger) Stabs enemies with the mounted drill bits. (only in
"Tank" position)

-Drill Dash - Hold "X" to charge up and thrust toward an enemy nailing it with
the drill bits. ("Tank" Position only)

-Hovering - Double tap "A" to hover.

-Sliding Dash - "Y" + any direct with the left thumb-stick. (Only in VS
position)

An Anti-VS; Vital Suit, this VS can change into a tank and move around over
rougher terrain easier. It's mounted drill bits also allow the tank to push
through objects that may otherwise be blocking your path.

Cyclops (Not a VS)

(GAN-A04SD)

Equipped with a Laser Rifle the NEVEC patrol system, scans the area for enemies,
and will attack anything that crosses into its red beam. Eg yourself. Some
models will have a shield in place which will drop over it's inner body to
protect it. Hit the red eye scan for its weak spot and a quick kill.

D-Cakti

(GAB-25DM)

A new and mysterious SV, the D-Cakti can hold up to 5 pilot/weapon operators.
It's the second largest SV's. Created by NEVEC to direct the flow of battle,
often serving by and commanding fleets of Cakti (GAB-25M)

Drio
(GTF-11)

Features:

-Hovering - Double tap "A" to hover.
-Sliding Dash - "Y" + any direct with the left thumb-stick.
Bipedal or Hover this VS is cable of much more movement, and weapon mount
capabilities.

Drio-CC

(GTF-11CC)

Features:

-Hovering - Double tap "A" to hover.

-Sliding Dash - "Y" + any direct with the left thumb-stick.

Similar to the Drio, except this model is known for being inconstant, and
faulty.

Evax

(GTF-13M)
Feature:

-Transform to Snowmobile - Hold "Y" to change VP into a fast paced snowmobile.

Not the best in a gun fight but perfect for scouting or transportation.

Faze
(GTB-22)

Features:

-Double Jump - Double tap "A" to Double Jump

-Long Jump - Hold "Y" to long jump. (Hit again to cancel)

A Fast VS capable of getting an operator to new heights the Faze is not a VS to
be taken lightly. Like the Evax this VS will stand for a good chase or
"get-away" if need be.

Faze-CC

(GTB-22CC)

Features:

-Double Jump - Double tap "A" to Double Jump

-Long Jump - Hold "Y" to long jump. (Hit again to cancel)

Another Faze model, the 22cc has greater Double Jump capabilities to pounce it's
prey with.

Firecracker

(GTF-11i)

A Special Ivan descendent created and piloted by Basil. This SV is equipped with
Missiles, Gatlin Gun and a Plasma Laser. The combination makes this SV very
unique; and deadly.

Granseed

GAN-34

Features:

-Hovering - Double tap "A" to hover.
-Sliding Dash - "Y" + any direct with the left thumb-stick.

Similar to the Drio, only upgraded to operate better/faster, and take more
damage with a stronger design/armor.

Hardballer

(PTX-140)

Features:

-Dash - "Y" + any direct with the left thumb-stick.

-Hovering - Double tap "A" to hover.

-VS Saw - Hit "X" to lunge and attack with the "VS Saw"

Similar to the Ivan, the Hardballer is lighter and easy to maneuver in battle.
Its features make it highly effective against Arkid units.

Heavy Ivan

(PTX-40A-2)
Another PTX-40a, beefed up stronger than other. The SV is covered in a defensive
armor far superior to its predecessors. The weapons are also very uniquge if not
extremely dangerous. There is a weapon for each range, making this VS a
challenge at any distance. Don't lets its weapons fool you though, the SV has
more power than its earlier models, and still maneuvers at the same speed.

Ivan

(PTX - 40A)

Features:

-Dash - "Y" + any direct with the left thumb-stick.

-Hovering - Double tap "A" to hover.

-VS Saw - Hit "X" to lunge and attack with the "VS Saw"

Although the original design of the Hardballer, the Ivan is superior in a few
aspects. Its speed and maneuverability for one. Not to mention the simple white
paintjob makes it much more vital to being unnoticed on the planets snowy
surface.

Nida
(GTT-01)
A weak VS to learn the ropes but not one I'd suggest to operate against large
enemies unless two Gatlin Guns is the best attack you have.

Turntable

(GTN-A01)

Turntables very in weapon mounts, so you may have some with missiles or chain
guns. Either way they are effective, but not too difficult to remove. Operable
themselves you can use these devices to your advantage in the games multiplayer.

Vensa

(GTF-13F)

Same as the Evax, minus the transform option makes the VS even smaller than its
original model design.

X-Seed

(GAN-37)

-Double Jump - Double tap "A" to Double Jump

-Long Jump - Hold "Y" to long jump. (Hit again to cancel)

Similar to the Faze, upgraded for planetary use, with faster operation speed,
and a harder shell.

Yuri
(L-P-9999)

-Ascend - Hit "Y" to rise up. (Hit it again to stop)

-Descend - Hit "A" to lower yourself. (Hit it again to stop)

-EMF Blade - "LT" Horizontal swing. "RT" Vertical Swing. Tap the triggers for
minor projectiles, or hold the trigger for the full swing of the blade.

-Vulcan Laser - Hit "X" to fire the Vulcan Laser.

One of Gales most crucial VS creations, the Yuri is highly advanced design of
the Ivan. Beyond simple hover specs, this VS is made for full flight. Offering
some of the best mobility in a VS, the Yuri is made to get up and personal with
its EMF Blade. The moderate/long range Vulcan Cannon, also makes it a deadly
asset.

Zebet

(GTN-A03M/C)

The lone mount/ eye-stalk is your biggest threat here. One detection by that and
the rest of the turrets will start hitting you.

Enemy Soldiers

Crimson Pirates

Crimson Pirates are part of a colonization of Snow Pirates called the Crimson
Unity. The CU formed from the initial colonization of the planet when they were
abandoned upon the discovery of the Akrid. The Crimson Unity has more right than
any to hate their damnation on the planet. However their actions, threats, and
attacks on Lukas people will ensure they earn no mercy nor pity from her people.
The Crimson Pirates often hide under the snow, or in a well fortified front to
attack their enemies. Wearing red stained fur, this makes them visible targets,
a sign of their loyalty and their madness. Like common Akrid they'll move in
clusters, or squads, often trying to flank you to get the better hand of the
battle.

Mountain Pirates

Mountain Pirates are very similar to the Crimson Pirates. However these snow
thieves will put up a far great fighter; moving in stronger squads, wearing
heavier armor, and fighting in closer combat with machine guns, or rocket
launchers. While they may not flank as much as Crimson Pirates, Mountain Pirates
will take advantage of stronger covering positions than their fellow thieves.

NEVEC Soldiers

NEVEC Soldiers fight even better than the pirates you encounter before; moving
in more fluent groups, with far more superior weapons. NEVEC Soldiers will run
to use vacant VS, or mount up in turntables, whichever will give them an
advantage over Wayne. Although they'll make better use of cover as the Mountain
Pirates do, they will push in fast and hard as they can on Wayne's location.
Favoring the advanced Plasma Guns over most other weapons, you must also be
careful of the soldier which will utilize the range of this powerful weapon,
often crouching into a smaller position and sniping from several locations.

Akrid

Bolsepia

Mostly found in warmer locations than the planets surface. Just be careful, the
Bolsepia will explode with T-Eng when you shoot them. It won't take much to kill
them either. Heavier weapons are good because they'll knock down the Bolsepia
before they explode, giving you a bit more distance. If you only have a machine
gun, find a way to put some distance on the Bolsepia if they move in too close
on you.

Chryatis

This warbeast will attacking any hostile it can for a little bit of warm T-Eng.
They attack with long blade-like arms, and will inflict a lot of damage. It's
the strongest Akrid you'll encounter in the games early stages. Close quarter
combat, although difficult at times, is not impossible. But a nice VS will
bring'em down fast. The Chryatis will jab at you with it's thorn like head, but
mostly swing its deadly arms. Take out the thermal joints connecting these arms
to the body to render the Chryatis harmless.

Dongo

A highly armored Akrid form that primarily curls up into a ball and propels
itself at enemies; causing the most damage. The Dongo will also use its large
pincers to lock a grip on its prey, or hit them with a brutal smash. Depending
on location you can either shoot the Dongo in the T-Eng sac on its tail. Or
trick it into running off a cliff by side stepping its rolling attack near the
edge of such a location. Another although more difficult method is using the
anchor to attach yourself to the Dongo's back, and blast the tail at point blank
range.

Genessa

You'll notice these pods commonly on the planets surface, and elsewhere's. Just
be careful and try to take them out quick. Left alone, they spawn Sepia, and
Trilid. Shoot the spores until there is nothing left to ensure more hostiles do
not continue to appear.

Godon

Like Dongo's the Godon will roll up into a ball and try to run down its enemies.
The evolved Godon however is far stronger and can pound through rock and
structures with it's incredibly armor plated skin. Using its mandible-like
pincers the Godon will extend these two vices, and clamp its enemies at a ranged
distance. Or smash the enemies with bombarding swings. Fear not like the Dongo's
the Godon has a semi-simple solution to killing it.

Gorechryatis

A larger evolved form of the warrior Akrid Chryatis. The Gorechyratis will open
its mouth and fire boiling T-Eng, at it's enemies. The weak points are both its
open mouth, and stomach region, however the body is covered in a thick armor
skin.

Green Eye

Like the Queen, Green Eye will try to freeze enemies with its breath, and launch
icicle-like projection from its back. Green Eye will charge its enemies, shoot a
wave of ice and snow, or pound its forearms in a tantrum causing intense
shockwaves. Defeating Green Eye will require the destruction of 8 green thermal
sacs on its back, 4 more which will appear on its head and one giant last one
which will appear on its face.

Jellon

The Jellyfish Akrid of E.D.N-III, these creatures will tighten up and spew out
swarms of smaller Jellon, called Jellites. Like the Trilid their swarms are
annoying and as such will attack in these formations. However Jellon have no
"attack", when they get close to an enemy they'll explode and inflict damage.
Also like Trilid though, they are simple to take out, and harmless outside of
range.

Neegal

Living in war regions the scorpion-like Akrid may also fly and will usually leap
at its targets. The tail as is the case with a scorpion will extend for long
range attacks, and inject poison into its prey. However the tail is also its
weakest point. Shoot the hub holding T-Eng on its tail and the stinger will
break and so the Neegal becomes an easier foe to beat.

Parajellon

Of the Jellon species, Parajellon will explode releasing swarms of Jellites
along with a harmful electric blast. Likewise with its Jellite spawn.

Queen

Although the Queen lives and nests on pure T-Eng within the planet; her primary
attack is an icy breath blow, which will freeze whatever it connects with.

Raibee

A wasp-like Akrid, this flying beastie although not always in swarms still puts
up a good fight on its own. The Raibee will either fire off ballistic stingers
at its enemy, or try to impale it with its tale, which will deliver a strong
electric shock to you.

Raibeon

An evolved for of the Raibee, the Raibeon will attack when provoked, but are
accompanied by Raibee , who will attack first, and need be, explode to inflict
the most damage on the enemy. Once they are gone, the Raibeon will fly into
battle and try to finish off the enemy with similar yet stronger attacks as it's
Raibee brethren.

Saizarod

The largest Akrid in existence, The Saizarod that spews swarms of small Akrid
from its chest.

Sepia

Commonly encountered these Akrid are the weakest link. Be careful around them
though. In Swarms they'll climb walks and surfaces to attack you from multiple
direction and angles. Their weakest point would be their mouth, when opened. But
again, a weak species so even if you don't feed it lead, a few holes will
suffice.

Skalt

A tree-like Akrid; Similar to the Jellon in one aspect, Skalts will spew out
several thorns to attack anything it feels a hunger for. Some of these thorns
create new Skalts so you want to blow up the bud on a Skalt to kill it and
prevent further re-growth.

Sydsepia

A litte stronger than Sepia, and not much different, these Akrid will shoot acid
out of their open mouths to attack you. Unlike the Sepia who focuses on close
combat, these creatures will try to hit you from a small distance before moving
in. Again, a weak and commonly encountered species.

Tencale

A giant spider-like Akrid, which will spawn out Bolsepia, the Tencale grabs its
enemies, and wraps them up in a tight web. Its whip like tentacle will grab its
enemies for this task. The Tencale is the parent to many Akrid, and spawns
Bolsepia in battle.

Trilid

Another weak species, however these stingray-like Akrid always fly in swarms
making it mostly annoying and if you don't act fast, truly harmful. A shotgun
works great on these buggers, as the blast should consume most of the swarm with
a few hits. They are always close to a Genessa crater, so be sure to remove the
spawn point to prevent further attacks.

Undeep

The Undeep is the "Gravoid"(Tremors reference) of the Akrid family. Tunneling
beneath a sea of snow, the Undeep sense for vibration on the planet, if it
detects the motion of a VS it will destroy it immediately. Fortunately there are
other close range tactics to destroy this creature. (Described in the Missions
section). The Undeep is consisted of 12 thermal spores on the length of its
body. You'll need to destroy each of these spores to kill the serpent-like
Undeep.

Windega

Its powerful wings will blow you off course, and make hitting it a bit
difficult. Mostly you want to be aware of the egg-like bombs that the Windega is
capable of dropping. Shoot the 3 yellow sacs on its body to stop the Windega
from dropping further bombs on you. However heavy damage inflicted upon its
wings will slay the beast.
