Walkthrough ******************************************************************************* =============================================================================== 1. Forest Frontiers =============================================================================== Deep in the forest, build a thriving theme park in a large cleared area. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 250 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 1, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Start by clicking the finance button with the two coins on it and increase your loan to the max which is $30,000. Increase funding to your research to max and check thrill rides and gentle rides only because that's all we want for this short level, now clear out all of the trees in the park so they won't be in your way later. Put down both of the roller coasters you have available to you, place them as close to the park border on the side as you can just to conserve space. Next place down some gentle and thrill rides and continue to put more down as they come available to you via your research, now is a good time to hire some handymen, mechanics and security guards... I don't bother hiring entertainers as they do very little for their money. Once you have your rides and staff in place start putting down some food, drink and bathroom stalls to keep your guests happy, also don't neglect to put down benches and trash cans around your park. Now go back into your finances and click on the very last tab which is your marketing campaign, here you can advertise for your park to increase the amount of guests that will come to your park. I like to use all of the advertisements at once to get the maximum number of guests to come to my park as possible, advertising seems like it is costing you a lot of money but in the long run it's actually making you more money than it is costing... why? Because the more guests in your park the more they go on your rides and the more money from your rides fatten your wallet. Now that you are done your advertisements just wait for the people to roll into your park which will be a lot more than the 250 required by the end of october, just keep up with the advertisements until the end october and it's an easy win. =============================================================================== 2. Dynamite Dunes =============================================================================== Built in the middle of the desert, this theme park contains just one roller coaster but has space for expansion. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 650 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Start out the same as before and always by going into your finance options and increasing your loan to get the most from the bank, now, these are the easy levels of Roller Coaster Tycoon so most of the strategies are gonna be the same because it all works to win the level. Increase your research funding to maximum for roller coasters, thrill rides and gentle rides, if you want you can flatten the land with the raise/lower land option with the shovel on the button, it will give you more space to put down your rides. When you have suffient room put down your coasters, thrill rides and gentle rides to get some guests coming in, as you should be able to see the level started off with a functioning coaster for you to attract people with. Once you have some rides down and running start up with the staff and then the food, drink and bathroom stalls for your guests. You can pretty much complete the objective in less than a year by having 650 or more people in your park, but, you have to wait out the 3 years to actually finish off the level. Keep placing down new rides as they come available and don't forget to keep up with that advertising as it really does work to your benefit. =============================================================================== 3. Leafy Lake =============================================================================== Starting from scratch, build a theme park around a large lake. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 500 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Max out your loan in your finances and set funding for your research to maximum for roller coasters, thrill rides, gentle rides and shop/stalls. Get rid of the trees around the lake part of the park for now so you have ample room for your rides, don't let the water intimidate you from building on top of it because the rides will sit on top of the water you just have to make sure to use bridge/tunnel option for your footpaths to get to your rides. Same as before keep placing down new rides when they come available to you, if you run out of room just place the new rides at the back of the park making sure you clear out the trees in the way first. Remember to put down the shops and stalls for your guests and then just keep up with your advertising to finish off the level. =============================================================================== 4. Diamond Heights =============================================================================== Diamond Heights is already a successful theme park with great rides - Develop it to double it's value. OBJECTIVE: To achieve a park value of at least $20,000 at the end of October, Year 3. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - As you can see the objective is a bit different for this level, park value is the worth of your park... what this means is obviously the worth of your rides but also how well your park does business wise. Don't confuse your profit/money with park value because your profit/money is part of your company value not park value, to check your current park value go into your finances and look at the bottom right park of the window. It will list your park and company value here so you know if your above your objective or not. Now that that's all straightened up let's get to the level, as you can see the park has numerous rides already. You can just add on to this park to increase the park value to which you need to achieve, start like always by maxing your loan out and increasing your research funding to maximum. Now go into your coasters and you will see the steel roller coaster, this is the bread and butter of Roller Coaster Tycoon... simply because of the shuttle loop you can build from it. The shuttle loop is the one of the best profit makers of all the rides, it is cheap to make and gives a quick but satisfying ride to your guests. Anyways back to the level, the best place to build your new rides for this park is out in the water. I personally like to just delete the miniature railroad in the park because it limits where you can build in the water and it doesn't make you much money anyways. You should start by building some shuttle loops, now there is a particular way I place down the shuttle loops to conserve space but you don't need to do it if you prefer not to or you find something better but I will try to explain it now. When I put down a shuttle loop I first hit the construction button on the ride and extend the length of the ride going up still by three lengths, next go into the operations tab with the gears on it and set the power launch speed to max which is 60 MPH, this will pump up the excitement on the shuttle loop and will allow you to increase the ride ticket price for it. After one shuttle loop is down I build another but I flip it around the opposite way first and put the station platform right beside the supports of the last shuttle loop this way it is compacting space, but like I said you don't have to do it this way if you want. Keep putting down rides in the water area to increase your park value but the value of your rides will drop over time and this means your park value will drop as well, you can add more rides to increase your park value back up or just replace the old ride with a newer one. More staff and shop/stalls will be needed to improve your park as well so don't forget about them, just because this level isn't about the amount of guests you have in your park doesn't mean you don't need advertising, like I said advertising makes you more money than it costs in the long run so use it on this stage as well!. =============================================================================== 5. Evergreen Gardens =============================================================================== Convert the beautiful Evergreen Gardens into a thriving theme park. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 1000 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 4, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Raise your loan up to the maximum and increase your research to maximum funding for roller coasters only for right now just until we get the steel roller coaster which will come first, after that select thrill rides, gentle rides and shops/stalls. There is a lot of trees and other riff raff in the way of you putting down some rides so the first thing you will have to do is clear out a big section, the perfect spot is where a big garden of flowers are just up and to the right of the park entrance. When you clear a big spot out it's best to set up a decent number of shuttle loops to start making some good money, at least 4 but 8 or 10 is a good start. Once they are set up and running advertise some to get more guests to come in and make even more money. When the shuttle loops are running good get your shops/stalls up and make sure you have your staff in order, by now you should be making good money and can clear away more area to put up more rides. Continue to expand your park to as large as you want but you shouldn't have to much difficulty reaching the 1000 guest mark before year 4. =============================================================================== 6. Bumbly Beach =============================================================================== Develop Bumbly Beach's small amusement park into a thriving theme park. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 750 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 2, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Max out your loan and max your research funding for coasters, thrill rides and gentle rides. You don't get the shuttle loop here so you need to go with other rides, I like to start by deleting all 3 of the rides in the park and start from scratch. This level is fairly easy like the rest so far just put down all the coasters, thrill rides and gentle rides you have and the ones you will get from your research, don't forget your shops/stalls and about your staff. Lastly don't forget to advertise which will lead you to your easy victory. =============================================================================== 7. Trinity Islands =============================================================================== Several islands form the basis for this new park. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 750 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Start by maxing out your loan, as you can see the park is a bit narrow in the first part of the park but thickens up at the end. Use the narrow part of the park to build your thrill rides and gentle rides, it takes a while to get the shuttle loop from research so stick with thrill rides and gentle rides for a bit just to get your park going. After you have it up and running good then just focus your research on roller coasters until you get your shuttle loop, now lay down a bunch of them at the back of the park to really start getting some money going. Once your shuttle loops are up and running you should have no problem finishing this level off, you will have plenty of money and just lay down rides as they come available to you. =============================================================================== 8. Katie's World =============================================================================== A small theme park with a few rides and room for expansion - Your aim is to double the park value. OBJECTIVE: To achieve a park value of at least $15,000 at the end of October, Year 3. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Max out your loan and start research on roller coasters only, I like to start from scratch on this level. Delete all the rides and shut down the park to get the people to leave, after they are gone delete all the paths and clear out some area's for some shuttle loops. It takes awhile for the shuttle loop to come from the research but you have plenty of time on this level, also you are going to have to research shops & stalls for a drink stall. One problem with this level is that it rains a lot which affects people going on your roller coasters, this isn't a huge problem but can be annoying at times. When the shuttle loop comes from research lay down about 10 of them and open up your park to really get some money coming in, after you have 10 of them up focus your research on thrill rides and gentle rides and spread them around the park. Putting down other coasters and water rides isn't a bad idea either, keep checking the park value through the finance tab at the top. When it starts getting close to october year 3 start putting down some more rides to increase the park value and come out with an easy win. =============================================================================== 9. Dinky Park =============================================================================== A small, cramped amusement park which requires major expansion. OBJECTIVE: To achieve a park value of at least $10,000 at the end of October, Year 2. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - As usual max out your loan and maximize your research for roller coasters only, next shut down the park and delete the rides and paths. Now flatten the land your given all evenly since you have enough money to do it and have a lot left over. The first roller coaster you will get is the steel roller coaster which is the one we want, when you get it you can stop your research or set it thrill rides. Next start up research for shops and stalls to get a drink stall. Now lay down a bunch of shuttle loops around the small area, as many as you can and open up the park. When you start making good money you can buy more land beside the park, to do this click on the park information tab and then on the right hand side of the window is a flag button that allows you to buy land at a hefty price. The pieces of land with white flags on it is the land that is for sale, as you can see it is a few pieces of land over from your park so it doesn't connect. The button under the buy land is to buy the rights to build over land, this will allow you to build a path over to the other side of the park land you just bought. Just continue to expand the rides in your park to achieve a large park value, keep checking the park value through the finance tab. If your park rating starts dropping a lot then just replace the old rides with new ones of the same type of ride to increase the park value back up, do this and you will come out with a win. =============================================================================== 10. Aqua Park =============================================================================== A park with some excellent water - based rides requires expansion. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 900 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Max out your loan and maximize your research for roller coasters only, this is another park where I like to start from scratch because the water slide here causes more problems then it's worth, it will crash a lot bringing down the popularity of your park. Delete the few rides and close up the park, when the guests are gone delete all the paths around the park and start clearing out some trees and flattening some land. The first roller coaster you get is the steel roller coaster which is what we are looking for right now, when it comes in lay down 10 shuttle loops or so and open up your park. The shuttle loops will bring in the big bucks so you can start expanding the park further, keep your research on max but start researching thrill rides and gentle rides as well. As the rides come in lay them down around the park, advertise to bring in lots of guests and have a good staff to keep your park rating up. Wait out the 3 years and just make sure to have the requirements to win the level and your golden. =============================================================================== 11. Millennium Mines =============================================================================== Convert a large abandoned mine from a tourist attraction into a theme park. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 800 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Begin by maxing out your loan and maximizing your research to roller coasters, delete the mine train and close up the park for now. When the steel roller coaster is available flatten up some land and lay down some shuttle loops to bring in some money, the problem with this level is that it rains a whole lot which affects your profits from the shuttle loop. When the shuttle loops are up begin research on shops & stalls to get a drink stall, when you get some decent money going flatten some more land and put down some more shuttle loops until you are bringing in some real good money, at this time you can research thrill rides and gentle rides along with your roller coasters. As the money comes in flatten more and more land to put down more and more rides, advertising is a must here since you will be making most or about equal amounts of money from your entrance tickets. The only challenge with this level is the rain, but once you get past the initial part of making money this level becomes easy. The last piece of advice I will give is don't flatten to much land at once or you will run low on money and have a very hard time making it back if you have few shuttle loops. =============================================================================== 12. Karts & Coasters =============================================================================== A large park hidden in the forest, with only go - kart tracks and wooden roller coasters. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 1000 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - This is a bit of a challenging level but not to hard, you do not get a the steel roller coaster at all so that hurts a bit. Also as you can see there is a crap load of trees everywhere, you don't have to start from scratch here you can continue to build around the existing rides. Alright again max out your loan and set your research to maximum for roller coasters, thrill rides and gentle rides. Put down all the rides you have and will get from research to expand your park, your gonna have to clear out a lot of trees to do this and can cost a good chunk of money to do so, what this means is you can't get to far a head of yourself, only clear out what you need to and place down the rides you want. It's gonna take a lot more rides to start bringing the money shuttle loops do so this level can be slow going, when you do get your park going good and it starts getting close to the end of the level start up with the advertising to cram the park full of guests. Remember to have a good staff in place to keep the park rating up past 600, do this and you will come out with the win. =============================================================================== 13. Mel's World =============================================================================== This theme park has some wee - designed modern rides, but plenty of space for expansion. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 1200 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Max out your loan to start, this is another start from scratch level, at least this is how I like to do it. Delete all the rides which isn't a whole lot and close down the park, when the guests are gone delete all the paths and lay down a good number of shuttle loops, just so you know you start out with the steel roller coaster. Open the park up and begin the money rake in from the shuttle loops, maximize your research for roller coasters, thrill rides and gentle rides. Now you can just expand your park with all the rides that you have and will get from research, like with the last level when the level is getting close to it's finish begin major advertising to get the guests to roll in. Also a good staff is required to have the proper park rating to win this level. =============================================================================== 14. Mothball Mountain =============================================================================== In the hilly forests of Mothball Mountain, build a theme park from scratch. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 800 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Start by maxing out your loan and increasing funding to max for roller coasters only, the first roller coaster will be the steel roller coaster which we like. When it comes in flatten up some land and remove the trees in the surrounding area, lay down 8 to 10 shuttle loops to get the money to come in nicely. This level rains frequently so get used to it, when you finally start making good money from the shuttle loops you can begin to flatten and remove more trees to place down different rides and such. You can now begin research on thrill rides and gentle rides as well, much like before as the money comes in expand your park by putting down different and more rides to get more guests to come. This isn't a very hard level so you should have no problem with it. =============================================================================== 15. Pacific Pyramids =============================================================================== Convert the Egyptian Ruins tourist attraction into a thriving theme park. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 1000 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 4, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - This is probably the easiest level yet, start out the same as always by maxing out your loan. You start out with the steel roller coaster so you can research roller coasters, thrill rides and gentle rides. As always put down about 10 shuttle loops to get mass money coming in, after that expand your park by placing down more and different rides around the park. You should know you can delete the pyramids and gain a profit by it, you have a 4 year span here so the toughest part of this level is waiting out the length of the level. If you want you can buy additional land for this level and expand your park to the best it can be, as I said this is a easy level you can probably have the requirements to beat this level by the end of year one but you have to wait out the 4 years to the easy but long victory. =============================================================================== 16. Crumbly Woods =============================================================================== A large park with well - designed but rather old rides - Replace the old rides or add new rides to make the park more popular. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 1200 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - This level is much like karts & coasters, it has a large park but it is covered in trees. Max out your loan and research all off the different rides you can since you begin with the steel roller coaster. Delete all of the rides in the park as they are old and you won't get much money out of them, close the park if you want and then begin to clear out a lot of trees and level some land to put down your shuttle loops. After the shuttle loops are up and running you will be set for money so just expand your park with more rides, as the level comes close to ending advertise like crazy to get lots of guests to come in to reach your 1,200 goal. Make sure to have a crack staff to keep your park rating above 600 to also meet the level requirements. =============================================================================== 17. Big Pier =============================================================================== Convert this sleepy town's pier into a thriving attraction. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 600 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 2, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - A bit more of a challenge is this level, max out your loan and focus your research on thrill rides and gentle rides. There is no point in trying to cram a roller coaster into this level because if you do manage to it takes up a lot of space, stick with putting down thrill rides and gentle rides. You are going to have to use the bridge/tunnel footpath option to build any type of path on this level since you only own the rights to build on top of land here. As I said you should only put down thrill and gentle rides down, place them around and in the existing footpaths that come with this level. Once you have a good number of rides down start up the advertising to reach your 600 guest mark, remember you only have 2 years on this level. =============================================================================== 18. Lightning Peaks =============================================================================== The beautiful mountains of Lightning Peaks are popular with walkers and sightseers - Use the available land to attract a new thrill - seeking clientele. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 900 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - This level is a bit tricky, it is very bumpy and has quite a bit of trees around the park, also it rains quite a bit in this level so there is another bad thing to add to the list. Again and as always max out your loan, you can begin research on all the rides if you want because we have the steel roller coaster. Delete the 2 chairlifts here and shut down the park, at the top of the ramp going up clear out a area and level it off to place down some shuttle loops. Open up the park and get some money to come in, once the money starts coming in begin the expensive task of flattening out some more land to place more rides down. Continue to do this while advertising to attract the people to come in, if you continue doing this then you should have no problem with beating this level by the end of year 3. =============================================================================== 19. Ivory Towers =============================================================================== A well - established park, which has a few problems. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 1000 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Start with maxing out the loan and researching all the rides, delete all the rides in the park and shut it down to get all the people out of your park. Delete the paths around the park and you can put down your shuttle loops in a cleared area. Open the park back up and begin to rake in the cash from the shuttle loops, once that starts happening just do as you always do and expand the park with more and different rides. Keep up with the advertising and keep a good staff on hand to beat this level with ease. =============================================================================== 20. Rainbow Valley =============================================================================== Rainbow Valley's local authority won't allow any landscape changes or large tree removal, but you must develop the area into a large theme park. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 1000 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 4, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - This is by far the hardest level on this game, you can't remove any trees or level off the land. The key to winning this level is the motion simulator and the slide, for me these are the only rides I use on this level to beat it. They are the smallest rides and really the only rides that fit around the park on this level. Max out your loan and begin research on thrill rides only, you start out with the slide but it takes a while to get the motion simulator. You pretty much will be only using the bridge/tunnel footpath option for this level to create the cue lines and paths leading away from the ride. Start by looking around the park and seeing where you can place a slide or motion simulator, when you finally get the motion simulator start placing it and the slide around the park and using the bridge/tunnel footpath option to connect the path to the entrance. Open up your park and let the guests in to start making a bit of money to expand your motion simulators and slides, making money in this level is a slow process so be patient. As you make more money continue to place more of these rides down all over the park as you need to, near the end of the level you should have enough guests in your park to win, if not start up major advertising to bring in enough guests to beat this level. =============================================================================== 21. Thunder Rock =============================================================================== Thunder Rock stands in the middle of a desert and attracts many tourists - Use the available space to build rides to attract more people. OBJECTIVE: To have at least 900 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 4, with a park rating of at least 600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - For being the last level this is a easy one, max out your loan and begin research on all the rides. Delete the chairlift as it barley makes any money, now at the top of the cliff level a area and put down some shuttle loops to bring in the money. Expand around your shuttle loops with other rides, it doesn't take much to reach the 900 guest mark. You will probably reach your goal within the first year but you have to wait out the other 3 years before you can win, in the mean time just pack your park full of rides and advertise to bring in well over the 900 guest mark. Just keep this up until the end of year 4 and you will come out with an easy win and open up the mega park map!. =============================================================================== 22. Mega Park =============================================================================== Just for Fun! OBJECTIVE: Have Fun! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Build your dream park with this huge area!. ******************************************************************************* II. My Game Review ******************************************************************************* Gameplay 8/10: The gameplay is pretty good and easy to play, the game shows an overview of your park and you can modify your park easily enough. There are a lot of little details to this game which make it as fun as it is, you can advertise for your amusement park, you can research new rides and you need a staff to keep your park running smooth. Graphics 7/10: The graphics are simple but clean looking, for when it was made the graphics are pretty good. The customers of the park are not really detailed to much but the rides and how they work are neat to look at, overall the game is fairly well done. Music 7/10: There isn't a whole bunch of music to this game but the music that is there is amusement type music which works for the game obviously, to me it gets annoying after a while so I turn it off but it is good to listen to for a bit to help get you into the game. Overall 7.5/10: This game is really fun to play, it has it's challenges and moments to the game. It's one of those games you play for a long time and get bored of it but you come back to it after months of not playing it, that is a sign of a good game. ******************************************************************************* IV.
