If this is your first character I recomend making sure you own one of each weapon type in the starter area before you leave it (you can remain here until lvl 13 if you wish). But as I mentioned above do not buy anything until the tutorials for both buying weapons, ammo and upgrading weapons are finished (or else you might double up) the weapons in this area are cheaper than normal and apparently have stats slightly higher than other white's in the game. Boosts in the tutorial area are slightly better than what you can get from vendors in the lobbys. An example would be that the healing item gives you 40 in the tutorial, while only gives you 35 everywhere else. (thanks LegendaryCheez for pointing this out) With this in mind it may be a good idea to stock up on these better boosts before you leave the tutorial area if you have cash to spare. *Personally I think you can skip the Assault Rifle that is available in this area because its semi automatic & I didnt like it much but it does do good damage & it will help you to do the phone jobs relating the AR's. For pistol dont buy a pistol until you get the quest to buy the bottom 1 slot pistol & put the trigger upgrade on it. 2) Do Not Repair your items every time they are slightly damaged: Each time you Repair an item it removes a fixed ammount of the total durability from items and therefore repairing too often will mean eventually your item is destroyed and unuseable. You should only repair when an item has 50-55% durability left (Updated thans to advice from Drseptimus & Zelazna) as this is the sweet spot in price for repairs and also means you will not be repairing so frequently your weapon breaks down prematurely, the only reaspon to repair them is to stop durability reaching 0 at which point the item breaks. So for example My brand new Assault rifle has 4000/4000 durability the first number is current durability/ the second number is total durability. I Play a couple of games and when I check the Assault rifle is 3650/4000, this doesnt really need repair but for the sake of this example I go and repair it. Now my Assault Rifle is 3950/3950 as the total durability has decreased by 50. So constantly repairing your items like this will cause them to eventually reach 0/0 at which point they are ruined and cannot be repaired or used. *Personally I found early on in the game that I switched to new gear often enough that I rarely really needed to repair anything until around level 25+. **Also It seems some items bought with Gold Bars such as glasses cannot be repaired. 3) Repair your gear for a cash price at a Vendor OR repair gear in the black market using GB, here is how. Most Vendors (shopping trolley icon on the map) not only sell items but can repair them also. When you speak to a vendor look at the bar in the top right of your GUI, there should be a spanner icon (some vendors dont have it and in the tutorial area it is greyed out on vendors until you do the specific quest for it) click the icon and it should now show a list of all your gear and how broken it is. You can choose to either repair all or click on specific items & select to repair just that item. As discussed in point 2 above dont repair to frequently at vendors because each time you repair the current durability of an item the items total durability decreases. Once either current or total durability reaches zero the item is destroyed and gone forever. You can repair items in the Black market using Gold Bars and the upside of this is that repairing on the black market will actually increase total durability on items as well as repairing current durability, so if you have a 4 or 5 slot weapon kitted out with good mods that is starting to get a low total durability repairing it on the black market can extend its life. * Incase it was missed in the wall of text above; in the tutorial area the spanner icon is greyed out on vendors until you do the specific quest for it which comes from one of the NPC's in the clothing store. 4) Once outside the Moat (starter tute area) always check the A/H for gear before going to the vendors: Since everything available with ingame currency ingame can be crafted by players (cash shop items can not be crafted of course) you can more often than not buy items cheaper from the A/H and save 75% more cash. You can also buy items with lowered total durability cheaper and save some money since in the early levels you will be switching you gear out quite frequently. *This is Probably the biggest cash trap I fell into as a new player. ** By gear I do not mean crafting components, some components can be sourced cheaper from NPC's. 5) Certain weapon types come with different fire modes: Semi Automatic, Burst Fire and Fully Automatic: Some Weapons have different fire modes, some are semi auto, burst fire (3 rounds at a click) or full auto problem is only some weapons have what fire mode they are in the description and some manufacturers make both. Hopefully this little list helps clear it up for new players (Special Thanks to Avarice for helping clear this up): So In Assault Rifles (if a weapon is not listed it is full auto): Wolf&Maus SG1 = Burst Fire Wolf&Maus SG2 = Full Auto Silver&Smith AR2M1 = Full Auto (I have confirmed this twice over myself) Silver&Smith AR2M2 = Burst Fire Cabrese Fucilere = Semi Auto In Sub Machine Guns (if a weapon is not listed it is full auto): Oslo Odin = Burst Fire And In Pistols (if Weapon is not listed it is semi auto) Oslo Satis = Burst Fire *Please be aware that these rules may not apply to weapons gained from gear packs. ** Burst fire = 3 bullets fired per mouse click, Semi Automatic = 1 bullet fired per mouse click. ***This is the second biggest cash trap I fell into as a new player, I now have some weapons I bought to fulfill specific roles that do not do what I wanted. 6) When browsing the A/H do not write off items that have the red circle icon thing on them: (I initially thought this meant they were too high level for me, theres a button to filter level locked items out for you too so best to use it). All this means is that the item are damaged, by hovering over then you can see how damaged they are in both current and permenant durability, sometimes they are only a little damaged sometimes a lot it pays to just look around before buying anything. Often you can save money by buying say a damaged hat and paying to repair it is cheaper than buying a brand new one from A/H or vendor. 7) Once out of the Moat theres an option to queue for games that need players or have already started so use it: (the icon is a gun), it sorts them by PvP & PvE gamestypes, it can be fun to just queue for games (games require a minimum No of players to start) or join games almost full or in progress while you are running around the town getting quests etc. 8) At level 10+ you can unlock a second boosts slot: Simply head to downtown and find the boost dealer whose name is "Jeremy Wong", he will give you a mission that unlocks the slot. 9) At level 30+ you can unlock the third skill slot: When you hit level 30 head downtown to the skill trainer whose name is "Dominic Palochino" and get the mission called "field promotion". The mission has 4 parts & you will need to have one of each rank 1 container type in your possesion to complete it. 10) Weapon attachments/mod kits can be removed but you lose them when you remove them: People ask it all the time in chat, should I save my addon slots for when I find better modeuls etc etc. You can add and remove weapon attachments and modkits(skins). Removing them will destroy the attachment or modkit in the process however it alows you to upgrade to better addons as you play more. So for example if you already have a trigger upgrade on your SMG and you purchase a better one simply go into customize and right click your current fitted trigger module and pick destroy, then drag and drop the new trigger module into place. (Thanks Zelazna for the suggestion of adding this) 11) Be aware that some equipment binds to your character once you equip it: When you acquire a new weapon or armor you might be tempted to try it out, but before you do check in the description to see if it has the orange hand icon and orange text which says bind on equip. If it has this text it means once you equip the weapon/armor it binds to that character, then you cannot trade it to another player and none of your other characters will be able to equip it either. Keep this in mind if you think you might want to put the weapon/armor on the Auction house generally speaking it is blue & green quality equipable gear that is Bind on Equip but best to always check the description before equiping a new acquisition. (Thanks Zelazna for the suggestion of adding this) 12) You can fast travel to the different town lobby zones with one click of your mouse: If you open your map using TAB & then M you can right click your mouse on the buses to the other town zones and instantly travel to them. Thats all I could think of for now, there is more I am sure I May Add more in future, hopefully some people find this helpfull. 13) You Can buy more Bank / Vault Space with ingame currency: Is Your Bank Vault full ? it soon fills up particularly if you have more than one Character. The solution to this is buying more space. Simply go to your ban vault and in the bottom left corner click on Upgrade. From there Additional Vault slots can be bought for $3000, $7000, $10,000, $12,000, $15,000, $18,000, $20,000, $30,000 and $40,000. 14) You can buy more Inventory Space with ingame currency: Running out of space in your backpack ? You can purchase another tab of inventory space using $20,000 of in game currency bd then a third tab is available for $35,000 and the fourth available for $50,000 (Thanks to DrSeptimus for the final tab pricing). Simply accumulate the required cash and then with your inventory tab open click on the + symbol that is inside a circle and agree to pay the fee. * Very helpfull if you are a hoarder like me. 15) Picking your weapons comes down to personal preference: A Weapons stats are really just an indication of how a weapon will work. Some people will tell you a certain weapon is no good & yet in the hands of the right player it can be awesome, certain LMG's get a bad rap and many people say the Cabrese Assault rifle is no good since it is only semi auto (but it does more damage per shot...) these are all just opinions. If you can afford it I recommend trying out various weapons so see what works best for you, also different weapon combinations work better on different maps and in different game types just like skills. (Thanks Zelazna for the suggestion of adding this) Weapons also do 4 different types of damage which is important to know for armor Vs weapons comparisons: Pistol & Sub Machine Gun = Light Damage Assault Rifle & Shotgun = Medium Damage Light Machine Gun & Sniper Rifle = Heavy Damage Rocket Launcher & Grenade (Possibly also mine, C4 and hand grenade) = Splash Damage 16) Picking your armor comes down to personal preference and balance: The interesting balance of the weapons extends also into the armor. Armour breaks down into 4 types of protection that corresponds to 4 types of weapon damage. Light protection - protects from pistol & SMG damage. Medium protection - protects from assault rifle and shotgun damage. Heavy protection - protects from LMG and Sniper Rifle damage. Splash protection - protects from grenade launch and rocket launcher damage. (Possibly also mine, C4 and hand grenade) Now you only get 4 real slots for armour too so it is a balancing act. Head, Torso, Legs & Feet. There is a face slot too but thus far I havent seen any face items that provide armor they are either cosmetic or minor regenerative in impact. Early on most armor items only protect from 1 type of damage, some protects from 2 but the tradeoff is less protection in total. ie: I have a hat that provides +1% light protection & +1% medium protection, OR I also have a hat that provides +2.5% medium protection so its a tradeoff. So Balance your armour out how you feel it works best for you. Higher level pieces of armour give other benefits besides simply protection so read the descriptions closely. *Personally at my levels I have found in In PvE I need all damage reductions fairly balanced but in PvP your going to find you need more medium, heavy & splash protection. I am current running 2%, 2%, 8% and 0% for the 4 respectively, mainly cos I find when I get hit by explosives its usually 150 damage which isnt worth trying to reduce by a few points when my total HP is only 120. 17) Picking your skills, boosts and augs comes down to personal preference also: Low level Chems are quite cheap and resetting skills when you are low level is cheap also. So try things out some skills are weapon specific so if you have a certain weapon type that is your favourite you might want to take skills that compliment this and then there are augs that can compliment skills too. Some game types favour speed or stealth over firepower so again as with weapons Dr Septimus has written up a nice list of some possible skill builds here: www.crimecraft.com/forums/player-s-guides/topics/Skill-Guide-for-dummy if you want to try one. Personally I think trying out a variety of skills early in the game when the cost to reset them is low ($100 per skill point spent) is the best way to go so you have a better understanding later on. *If you need to unlock the third skill slot the information on how to do that when you reach level 30 is also available in this guide, just search the page for "Dominic Palochino" without the "'s. ** There are generally 3 types of Augs, Lobby Augs: which only give a bonus in the lobby areas (these have unlimited uses) such as bonus to crafting, Combat Augs: which give a bonus in PvP & PvE matches (these have a limited number of uses) for dealing more damage in combat and Ability Aug's: which can boost or affect your chosen skills. (Thanks Dr Septimus for pointing out the Ability Augs) 18) Pay attention when picking a PvP Instance some may be too difficult for you: When you look in the instance list for PvP matches pay attention to a few key indicators so you know what to expect. Each Instance is given a rough min- max boundary (ie. 40 - 59). If Green = a fair match. Red = Higher rated players than you. Yellow = Lower rated players than you (and if you join these, you will be warned that your stats will be handicapped) A good indicator of a fair match for your level is the star rating. This Star rating is based on such things as your kill/death ratio, your current equipment, level/skills, etc. So use this as a guide to find a match that is right for you. (Thanks Zelazna for the Information on this) 19) Where is my next bleedout ticket ? & Other Bleedout questions: This is another common thread topic & discussion topic in game chat. -- To play bleedout you must be eligible. That means you have either bought bleedout episodes from the black market or are a paying subscriber on either a Deluxe or Premium subscription package. -- When you start a bleed Episode you will recieve the next one 1 full week later (provided it has been released). The timer starts when you start the current Bleedout episode. Keep in mind Some bleed out episodes require a previous bleedout episode be completed before you can start the next one. ie: if you start episode 1 right now you will recieve the ticket for the next episode 7 days from now. -- You can get your bleedout tickets faster by buying a fast forward ticket from the black market for 100gb. This allows you to do the current episodes back to back with a new ticket sent to you as soon as you complete each episode. -- You can re-play bleedout by using one of several rewind ticket options which is also available from the Black market. A Season Rewind Ticket allows you to replay all the bleedout episodes, a BleedOut Episode Rewind Ticket allows you to replay a random episode from bleedout. -- After I finished a bleedout mission I got a playing card, what do I do with it/them ? See point 31 further down. -- New PvP Maps can be unlocked by playing through Bleedout however they can also be unlocked without playing bleedout by completing 4 PvP missions. The mission NPC's and locations they unlock are as follows: Officer Peters in Downtown - Unlocks Belly Street Officer Crow in Oceanside - Unlocks Deckard Harbor Officer Kalb in Midtown Square - Unlocks Municipality Bank Officer Goldman in Downtown - Unlocks Maxym Alley (mission available only after Episode 9 is released) 20) Where is my Fast Forward ticket from completing Bleedout Episode 1 ?: This gets asked a lot so I gave it its own point. In the old days Fast Forward tickets for bleedout used to be given as a reward for completing Episode 1, this was apparently an accidental oversight & has been removed however these tickets can still be bought from the black market. See the Quote below: ************************************************************************* *Quote | Stelonidas posted on Feb 11 2011 06:52 PM UTC *If you are referring to the Fast Forward tickets not being rewarded upon *completion of Bleedout episodes, we have verified that this was an intended *change. The Fast Forward tickets are now only available via Black Market. ************************************************************************* 21) How Black market Items work: (A Work In progress) (Thanks to Avarice for some of the info) The black market sounds straight forward in that you use real world cash to buy Gold Bars (the black market currency) and then use the Gold Bars (GB) to buy what you want from the black market. I myself had many questions about how it all works so here is what I have learned. -- Custom Clothing Purchased on the black market is actually just a cosmetic enhancement of what you are wearing and it keeps the stats of the item you are wearing. This means that for example: if you are currently wearing a +5 heavy protection shirt you can use GB to change the shirt into a Camoflage jacket with +5 heavy protection by buying the cammo jacket from the Black market. Recoloring items works the same. -- Weapons purchased from the black market are essentially the same weapons you will find on the A/H and can find ingame however here they can be purchased for GB. The weapons function the same as any other weapon in game, it needs repairs and its total durability will decrese with age until it inevitably breaks completely. -- Repairing items using GB on the black market will not only repair current durability but will improve total durability also. WARNING: Any clothing items modified by using the black market become bound to you & then cannot be sold on the A/H 22) Take Missions and Jobs to earn Experience, Cash & Item rewards: Missions come from NPC's with ! symbols over their heads and on the map, these offer the best rewards in both XP & Cash rewards with some missions also giving weapons and unlocking an additional skill (second skill slot is in tutorial area, Third skill slot is unlocked at level 30 check this guide for details) or boost slot (second boost slot is unlocked at level 20 check this guide for details). Quests come in both PvE and PvP flavours, so if you want to complete all missions you will need to join PvP games. When you complete a Mission you will have a notification in the right hand side of your screen you have one to complete & it will tell you who to see and what area they are in. NPC's who want to talk to you about completing quests have a TICK over their heads and on the map. Many quests have multiple parts and some will give the bulk of their reward upon completing the final part. *It is unclear if there is a cap on the number of missions you can take at one time but I was able to collect all the missions in sunrise city at once without any trouble. **Most missions can be taken as soon as you arrive in sunrise city & you may find my level 25-30 you are running out of missions, this is normal and one remedy is to play the bleedout campaign. Jobs provide smaller XP and cash rewards for completion. Jobs are issued by the phone boxes around the maps. As your level increases so will the total number of available quests and new quest tabs will also unlcok up the top. You can take up to 25 Jobs at any one time these vary from killing NPC's armed with a certain weapon type in PvE to stealing a certain ammount of cash in PvP robbery matches. There is a lot of variety and once you complete a job you simply go back to the nearest phone box, collect your reward and take another job. Since you are limited to 25 jobs at a time I highly recomend taking jobs that compliment the current missions you are trying to accomplish. So if you have several PvE Missions, make sure you stock up on 25 logical PvE Jobs before you start entering instances. 23) You can do PvE maps on "Hard Mode" for a better challenge & better rewards: This is easily accomplished. Simply press escape and open the game menu. click the "game" option and in there you can choose between easy, medium & hard difficulty modes (Medium is default) for PvE. On hard enemies will be a lot tougher, more accurate with weapons & use more abilities than in medium but there are also better rewards for participating in PvE games on this difficulty. 24) Containers are filled with goodies of various types but are primarily for Crafting. OK you have been running around PvE maps and noticed these Various containers you can pickup by standing on them, Very occasionaly when you kill a player in PvP a container will drop also. The containers found in the MOAT tutorial area largely only give rubbish scraps you can sell and the occasional damaged weapon/armor or boost/weapon addon as noted in the container list below but they do not give crafting items. The Containers are primarily there to give raw materials for the various crafting professions. They come in 3 ranks and there is 1 type for each crafting profession, they are: Armor Container (Rank 1,2 and 3) BROWN : Contains mainly Crafting Materials for Tailoring, very occasionally yields damaged armor items. Gadget Container (Rank 1,2 and 3) YELLOW: Contains mainly Crafting Materials for Engineering, very occasionally yields various weapon addons, stocks, triggers, barrels, modules and sights. Medical Container (Rank 1,2 and 3) WHITE: Contains mainly Crafting Materials for Chemistry, very occasionally yields various boosts. Weapon Containers (Rank 1,2 and 3 GREEN): Contains mainly Crafting Materials for Gunsmithing, very occasionally yields Damaged weapons of varying qualities. Opening containers with a simple double click on them seems to give mainly materials and equipment around your character level or below. The higher ranked containers 2 and 3 have a better chance of yielding better equipment or rarer crafting components of their type. * Basic rule of thumb is to really only open containers as you need things from them, otherwise you could end up stuck with a lot of low level crafting components you will never use. ** Containers can also be sold (and purchased) on the Auction house to other players if you are not going to use them. 25) You can use multiple scavenging tools to get materials of different tiers for crafting. Ok The Savenging tools for each crafting profession allow you to recover salvage from PvP battlefield. by the time you reach 50 in a crafting skill you should have access to about 3 scavenging tool recipes. Each tool has a Tier it lets you scavenge from. From my observations it seems having a Tier 1 scavenging tool equiped will only give you Tier 1 components at the end of PvP games. Equiping a Tier 2 scavenging tool will give mainly Tier 2 with the occasional Tier 1 components at the end of PvP games. Equiping a Tier 3 scavenging tool will give mainly Tier 3 with the occasional Tier 2 and Tier 1 components at the end of PvP games. When you build the next ranked Scavenging tool it usually consumes your old tool, however there is nothing to stop you making another tool of each Tier if you still need components from that Tier. However you can only equip one tool at a time so switching them between matches will let you control what sort of salvage you get at the end of PvP games. *If you need a fairly rare item make sure you have the scavenging tool of the same tier (IE: if the item is tier 2 then equip the tier 2 scavenging tool) as the item you need equiped and then go and play lots of PvP. 26) Scavengers have an ever changing selection of crafting components you can buy but the supply is limited. This one is relatively straight forward there is one scavenger merchant in each lobby zone. These Merchants have a random selection of crafting components from each crafting discipline, these range from tier 1 to tier 4 components that are common (white), uncommon (green) or rare (blue). The components available from each vendor change approximately every 60 minutes, are sold in lots of 5 items and are in a limited supply indicated by the number at the bottom right of each item. Once the bottom right number reaches 0 that item can no longer be purchased from that vendor. * There are still some items that seem to be extremely rare and only available as occasional loot through PvP or Bleedout PvE matches. 27) Some NPC's have quests to start/finish even if they dont have an Exclamation mark or tick over their heads or on the map. I became confused by this a few times myself. NPC's who are trainers/vendors or guard entrances to instances pull double duty a lot in sunrise city. Sometimes they have quests to give out or complete for you but there is no tick or ! exclamation point avove their heads or on the map/minimap. So when you speak to an NPC look in the top right of screen for other options (like you do when you need to repair an item and you look for the spanner) look for the ! icon and click on it. This will then show you any and all available quest information this NPC has. If they have more than 1 quest available you may need to click on the "show details" button on the one you want. 28) Map Icons and what they mean: 29) Quick reference to some usefull chat commands: This is just generally usefull I would credit the original post but I cant remember where I found them. Simply type these commands that are in Italics into chat where "Message" is obviously the message you wish to send and "name" is the name of the player you wish to ignore/friend/msg etc etc. /whisper Name Message message to a particular person /party message message to your party only /reply message reply to a whisper sent to you /quit quit the game /ignore name ignore another player /addfriend Name add someone to your friend list /removefriend Name remove someone from your friend list /createchannel channelName create a channel /invitetochannel playerName ChannelName invite a player to the channel you created /leavechannel channelName leave a particular channel /channelkick playername channelname remove a player from a channel you created 30) The differences Between Free Accounts, Deluxe Accounts & Premium Accounts are: This seems to get asked all the time on the forums and ingame, despite being fairly easy to find here: www.crimecraft.com/compare_subscriptions I will not rehash them here as the link will be kept up to date and it has side by side Comparrisons. 31) Playing Cards & what they are used for: Completing Bleedout Chapters rewards you with a playing card. Combinations of card can be swapped at the *INTERUPTED* Some Combinations are: Card to Card Conversions: 3, 3, 4, 4 = Gives a Six 2, 2, 2, 4, 4, = Gives a king 2, 2, 2, 10, 10 = Gives a Jack 3, 6, 9 = Gives a 10 Card to Set Conversions: Seargent Stealth - 10, 7, 6 Napalm Engineer - A, A, A, J, J Mob Boss - 10, 8, 5 Speed Demon - J, Q, K, K Creep (only 3020 durability) - 5, 5, 5, 4, 4 Street Thug - 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Eagle Eye - A, Q, 3, 3 Master Guns - J, J, J 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000078
